Stayed here 3 nights while golfing locally with a large group. Room 2017 looks out to the golf clubhouse and Bay, fantastic views from hotel, and even better from clubhouse, where coastal footpath to St Andrews town well worth walking.
Staff here were all superb; welcoming drop off, great reception, and a culture of care and happiness abounds.
Breakfast buffet superb, so many choices; we only ate once, as we explored local eateries, but the haddock and chips was at the same standard.
A special place, for special occasions.

So everyone knows brides have high expectations going into the planning of their wedding. Thanks to Katie Rae and the rest of the Fairmont staff, our visit was perfect in so many ways. Though our wedding was held at Glamis castle, we chose The Fairmont for its location, it's service and ability to work together.

Katie Rae did an exceptional job in organizing our visit. From the minute we arrived exhausted from our trip from America, we were welcome by Maureen's concierge team. There was always a friendly smile and willingness to help out. By the time we left I felt like we were leaving friends behind. The catering department created an amazing grooms cake for me. The views spectacular. Perhaps it helped that we were there right after May Day... So the hotel was relatively quiet.

Our friends and family were treated like royalty... The rooms were perfect. The breakfast that we had included in therapeutic was delicious. I was sad to come home not to have the options or meal at my beckon call. The courses were amazingly beautiful. It's nice being away from town but close enough to visit in the day. Can't wait to return...but thanks again for being so cooperative and providing great service.

Came here for the 3rd successive year with my girlfriend and dogs to celebrate her 40th birthday.

We arrived at 3.30(check in is 3) and our room wasn't ready, this was after a longish drive on a very hot day with our dogs.

We eventually didn't get checked in till after 4 and agreeing to an upgrade.

The room was amazing but poorly located for our dogs, we had to walk the length of the hotel to go outside with them.

We ordered room service, which we have done many times here. This time however the food was quite poor and cold by the time it reached our room(we left a complaint card detailing this). We normally get breakfast here but chose just to leave without it.

The amazing views and location were all that rescued this time here celebrating a special occasion.

This is 2 times in a row where a service issue ha caused us disappointment, and now doubt we will be back.

No doubt the Manager will reply to this post, but the replies are usually empty and non accountable.

Beautiful hotel and room. Reception staff very helpful. We dined at Club House, service slow despite there being around five tables unoccupied. Starters delicious, as was my main of hake, however the steak so tough partner couldn't eat it - a real dissapointment. Breakfast wonderful lots of choice and fresh egg station manned by chef.
We had a mini treatment in the spa which we both enjoyed, lovely relaxing atmosphere. Nice touches are ice bucket and ice machine on floor. We were there celebrating a special birthday, my partner was wished happy birthday on arrival then we received a card wishing us a happy first wedding anniversary in our room - we both laughed although he did look a bit nervous!
All in all lovely but wouldn't pay full price again.

Took my wife for a wee stay at the Fairmont Hotel, it was our first stay..and we both enjoyed, we had a nice view over the the sea and part of the golf course... evening dinner was nice but the waiter gave us the wrong main course, which was meant for another table. However when out main course arrived, it was wonderful. over all our stay was a nice one and would would say again.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the year and its always a pleasure to return, the rooms are big and comfortable. The bathrooms have walk in showers as well as a bath and are very grand even if they could do with a little refresh. Buffet breakfast downstairs has everything you could want and lots that you dont. The clubhouse down at the St Andrews bay golf courses has amazing views and serves great foods, it always amazing me how quiet and overlooked the place is. Just to cap off a great hotel, they have Smudge, a golden Lab, who is an ambassador for Fairmount. There is a shuttle service from the hotel to town which is also a nice touch

Impressive entrance sets you up for high expectations but unfortunately it's mostly downhill from there.
'Guy' at reception was nice and welcoming but the concierge needs to take lessons from the lads at Turnberry. We didn't need help with the bags but no offer or warm welcome was forthcoming.
Room was a bit uninspiring and colours were dull. The curtain was holed but otherwise no complaints. No call from reception to check if we were ok or had any questions - standard in most quality hotels but not here.
Clubhouse was very busy but only because there is nowhere else to go if you are about to tee off. Half a dozen uncleared tables meant we had to wait for a table to be cleared. The service was dire. 20 minutes to get our drinks and over 40 minutes for the house burger. Asked for mayonnaise but we're still waiting. Burger was ok but fries were terrible. £30 for two burgers and two pints with this standard of service is atrocious.
After a nice visit into St. Andrew's we returned for round two.
Not wanting anything large to eat we elected to eat in the hotel bar. Two cocktails later and we were ready to relax. We ordered two soup of the day and two open sandwiches. Soup was roasted carrot - took 20 minutes to arrive -nice but not hot enough. The barman noticed the butter was missing and brought over some butter portions which he put on the table for us / no plates left?
Another half an hour and the sandwiches arrived with lots of apologies for being so long. My smoked salmon was excellent although the chef was very tight with the soft cheese. My wife had the vegetarian option which was passable but again skimpy on the hummus so was very dry. £50 for two cocktails two sandwiches and two pints of lager is not too dear when you expect great service - otherwise - it's just a rip off - which is exactly was this felt like. There were a lot of other patrons in the bar but whilst one man played pool in his bare feet the staff were either blind or too scared to ask him to put his shoes on. McDonalds would have thrown him out but not here.
Off to bed. Very comfy and nicely controllable air con.
Breakfast. OMG.
Cold coffee and toast not offered. Just as we'll as the butter was marked with something dirty.
Buffet was almost the same standard as a road side stop. Nothing inspiring. No one checked how we were - no one cared. We left after 15 minutes. At least when you help yourself you don't have to wait long - BONUS.
I will never recommend this hotel to any of my friends. Avoid.
