Stayed in a lovely room on the 2nd floor. Large room with 2 double beds and pleasant bathroom with separate bath and shower. Did appreciate instructions on how to use the shower, as too often in hotels it takes 10 minutes to work out exactly how these things work.
Arrived at 4pm to a lengthy check-in queue and only one member of staff on reception - rather disappointing. Reception did apologise for the wait and were exceptionally friendly after 15 minutes.
Robes in room, staff more than happy to deliver slippers too.
Dinner in the Squire Restaurant was superb - could not fault the service or food.
Beautiful surroundings, had a great walk in the morning before arriving for breakfast. Queues at 9.30am for breakfast were no shorter when we arrived at 10.30. Breakfast served excellent food, however service was a let down. Coffee arrived luke-warm at best, toast cold and no fresh milk - however the waitress did apologise and replaced these when asked.
Overall, wonderful hotel however the service was not quite up to the 5* standard that it should be.

We've stayed here a few times and it is my girlfriends favourite hotel in the whole world....handy that its in the country we live!

everything about it is geared for an excellent high quality stay (its courses are the main pull for American clientele) The hotel itself has great eateries and bars and the rooms are as expected, huge, sumptuous, well appointed and tastefully furnished.

The staff are excellent and friendly without being invasive.

if you are in this area it is worth going that few minutes out of town to stay at this hotel.

Stayed here last Sunday and had a really nice time. Good points: lovely room with the comfiest bed ever and beautiful sea view. Food in restaurant in evening very good and service good. Cocktails fab in bar later. Negatives: arrived at 4pm to be told room not ready (3pm is check in time) and we would be phoned once room ready. Went fro coffee and returned to reception at 5pm after no phone call received and after quite a wait i was finally given room key. No apology or complementary tea/coffee/drink offered whilst we had waited. Noticed lots of other people in same situation. When I enquired was there a particular problem on this day the reply was "no we just have a lot of people checking in and out!" Breakfast next morning was definitely not five star as had to queue for about 25 mins to get seated and then food was lukewarm at best and no toast offered. Asked for coffee and got tea and when asked for it to be changed it took until we had finished breakfast to finally receive coffee despite asking a couple of times. Have seen similar reviews around late check in and breakfast queues and think the hotel needs to seriously up its game on these issues if wishes to retain its status.

We stayed for 4 days and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Service was impeccable, and the rooms were well appointed with a superb view of the Forth. It is a fair ways out of the town, and having a car would be a great help.
The staff are super and very professional, and very helpful in every way. Will come back.

Stayed here whilst visiting Scotland, the room was very spacious and well presented (however the bathroom bins were not clean).

Overall, a good stay and would not hesitate to stay here again. Beautiful location and staff were very professional. Well worth the stay.

This was my 6th time back at the Fairmont and I did not leave disappointed. The customer service in this hotel is exemplary - from concierge and reception to the cleaning staff and chefs - I had input with them all and everyone had a smile on their face and a pleasant word to say.

I look forward to going back.

We stayed here over the weekend for 2 nights, beautiful location, beautiful hotel. Staff very professional and attentive, always on hand to offer advice etc. Makes a pleasant change when the waiting staff in the bar ask about your stay and engage you in conversation.

I agree with one or two reviews regarding the "breakfast queue" but the majority of guests want to eat at the same time and there's simply not enough seats to satisfy demand at peak times. What does the hotel do?, ask every guest what time they will be down for breakfast !! That's just not practical, is it? The breakfast team work tirelessly to get you seated as soon as they possibly can, they just don't stop - it's tiring just watching them !. It wasn't a problem for us and to their credit, they supply apple and orange juice for anyone waiting in line, a nice wake up drink. Great selection of breakfast food too, including the fresh egg station cooked to order

I highly remommend this hotel
