“Man made links course gone bad”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

There are many great golf experiences in Scotland. This is not one of them. The contours are clearly man made and does not compare to the other courses around. If you are short of time, don't make this one of your picks

“Fantastic Course”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

We liked Castle Course so much that we played twice in two days and it was even more fun the second time around. The great variety of the layout and the quality of the adventurously undulated greens require your best golf to score. If you fail to play to your standards you will be consoled by the course's magnificent views and you will try again soon. The well designed clubhouse overlooking the ninth and eighteenth green invites you to stay and watch the players struggle with the hills and vales of the enormous green while enjoying your Guinness.

“Great layout,not for beginners.”
Reviewed October 16, 2013 via mobile

I played the Castle Course on 15 October & it was a fantastic golfing experience .I had heard critical reports of the severity of the greens and the difficulty of the layout. It is a difficult course to score well on and you need your A game but the course and the views are magnificent.A must play when visiting St Andrews and a great alternative to the Old Course.

“Excellent course”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

The Castle course has become a marmite course. You either love it or hate it. I loved it. It's true the greens are the most undulating greens you'll ever play on any course in the world. At times you thought there was a Windmill missing on the greens! You have to make sure you hit the greens close to the pins. A caddy is a must if you want to get full enjoyment out of the course. The 17th hole must be one of the best par 3 holes in golf. A 175 yard carry over a ravine with a backdrop of St. Andrews city. Worth playing just for this hole alone. Don't be put off by the negative comments regarding the greens - play it, you won't regret it.
