We stayed at the Dunvegan for a week based on the recommendation of my father who had stayed there a few years earlier - it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, Sheena (the owner) was very welcoming and instructed us where to store our clubs for the week (convenient locker next to the bar). We were jet legged but couldn't resist the bar and the great selection of beers/drinks (Belhaven Best was my favourite). The food was great. We ate the Chilli Nachos every day, the steaks were tender and delicious, the burgers were great and so was the Chicken Fricasse. In addition, Jack made us breakfast every morning and the Dunvegan McMuffin and hashbrowns were always a great start to the day. The staff were very accommodating: Linda, Lindsay and Katy went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The pub is well decorated with countless pictures of famous golfers and celebrities drinking at the very pub. We would sit out on the patio and chat with the people walking by every day. The rooms were quiet, comfortable and very well cleaned.

Being half a block from the 18th green is such a convenience for those trying to play the St Andrews courses. There is also a great souvenir shop across the street to buy your St Andrews apparel. Everything else you need in St Andrews is a convenient walk away (visiting the castle, walking along the Old Course, walking the beach, etc.) Sheena helped us out with every facet of the trip (organizing taxis, which courses to play, booking the courses, etc). We played every course we wanted to, including the Old Course twice, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.

Whether you're planning a trip or looking for a place to grab a pint, the Dunvegan is a must. We are already planning a return trip two years from now.

Two members of '64 went to the Aggie Bar for our 50th reunion (couldn't make it to College Station). One of owners played Aggie War Hymn as we walked in. What a great bar!! Great local beer on tap and wonderful food. Strongly recommend the chili; a Texas recipe. If in St. Andrews, don't miss this bit of Texas in Scotland. Well worth the trip!

The Dunvegan is hands down the best in St Andrews. I just got back from a solo golf/birthday trip, this place is amazing. Jack and Sheena (owners) make you feel so at home, they are very hands on and helpful in anyway they can be. I stayed for 5 nights and waundered all over town and always ended up back at the hotel bar because nothing else is close. Even being alone the whole time, it never seemed like I was 4000 miles from home. This place has the feel of your local pub at home, eveyone is so nice and friendly. The staff; Luke, Lindsey, Katy, Linda, Shelby, and Amelia are all great and so friendly. Great selection of drinks and the staff knows their stuff. I really didnt want to leave but will be back.

Cheers,
Jay

By far the best place to stay, eat and drink in St Andrews. Excellent value, superb quality food (the steaks just melt in your mouth, the burgers are all home made and freshly cooked) and the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant is very friendly and welcoming. The owners, Jack and Sheena can't do enough for you and the staff are the same; Luke, Lyndsay, Katie and everyone else made us very welcome. I've stayed in many hotels but this is only one that leaves me feeling homesick when I leave.
Thanks to everyone at the Dunnie for another great stay.
Cheers
Steve and Julie

A friend and I were in the area and just checking out some of the local pubs. Well, low and behold, we found this gem. Sheena the owner and Linzy the bartender couldn't have treated us any better if we had been family. Lots of laughs and recommendations for us. I can see why the place always has patrons in it, they treat you like royalty. We had already booked a B & B just out of town, but will definitely be trying this one on our next visit.
Thanks again for everything Sheena and Linzy.
