Owner description: The remains of St Andrews Cathedral, which was Scotland’s largest cathedral and most magnificent church, show how impressive it used to be. The museum houses an outstanding collection of early and later medieval sculptures and other relics found on the site, including the magnificent St Andrews Sarcophagus of Pictish date. The precinct walls are particularly well preserved. St Rule's Tower, in the precinct, is part of the first church of the Augustinian canons at St Andrews built in the early 12th century. There are splendid views from the top. Joint ticket available with St Andrews Castle - Adult £9 Child £5.40 Concession £7

A sunny morning, without any wind-what more could you ask for to wander around the greenery and the ruins. There is enough there to give you a feeling of what the Cathedral was like way back in the day.Plenty of information on boards placed throughout to give you that little bit more detail on what you are looking at.

“Lovely spot - worth the trek!”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

Even as 4 golfers in Scotland for a bucket list trip, we wondered around this small, lovely town and stopped here for some nice photo's and scenic views. Not a destination really but it would be a real shame to be in St. Andrew's and not make a brief side trip here. We didn't go inside but you can absolutely enjoy the surroundings and use your imagination to envision what once was. Really quite nice and thought provoking.

“Lovely Old Ruins”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

This old cathedral sits on a point of land that looks out to St. Andrews Bay. They have done a very nice job of preservation. Some of our group ventured up the tower and found a great view at the top. The visitor center is very informative.

A great ruins with lots to see and do. Would recommend climbing the tower as the views in all directions are magnificent. If you are a golfer be sure to visit the graves of Tom Morris Sr & Jr.

“Very Nice”
Reviewed August 14, 2014

Well worth a visit to the Cathedral and Castle but not really on a wet day. The ruins are very interesting and gives you a good insight into the history with informative boards about. Not enough time to climb up the tower as I believe it is very breathtaking. Good to visit on a dry day.
