Owner description: The remains of what was Scotland’s largest and most magnificent church still show how impressive St Andrews Cathedral must have been in its prime. Its museum houses a collection of early and later medieval sculpture as well as other relics found on the site. Spectacular views from St Rule's Tower.

To walk around and imagine what it used to look like. Well kept and clean. Found the grave of golfer legend Tom Morris.

“Atmospheric”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

whilst on a family holiday in St Andrews, we popped into the cathedral. I grew up in St Andrews so was able to explain a lot of the history but felt the boards displayed could have been more informative. But very atmospheric, fantastic views and no point paying the expensive prices for the rest of it.

Loved these ruins and history. Pictish stones are in museum! Right on the sea so it is a very moving scene.

“Visit to St Andrews, Fife, Scotland”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2014

If you like history and old buildings then visit the Cathedral in St Andrews. A magnificent building which is in the main a ruin, however your ticket gives you access to a climb up the tower and on a clear day the views are magnificent.
There is a good history to the building and the people who lived there and ruled St Andrews at one time. It also delves into the history of the Protestant Reformation and characters such as Hamilton, Wishart and John Knox of Edinburgh.

“Great Ruins”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

The cathedral is situated in a prime location. We've been there in the evening, so the gate was closed. However, You also have a decent view from outside, and we enjoyed taking some pictures from outside the fence. If you just want to take some nice pictures, go there on clear evenings and enjoy the sunset.
