Second visit to Rufflets (actually third having popped in for lunch about 20 years ago).. enjoyed a peaceful break, with Rufflets as always having an air of understated class; a place where you just feel right at home.. Turret room perfect and restaurant choice - food and wine - great.! already planning to go back..

Room Tip: Go for a Turret room.. great view of the garden..

Dear David

Many thanks for the feedback - and we were all delighted to read that you had enjoyed the peace and tranquility at Rufflets - it is a great place to escape to and simply relax.

Being made to feel at home is something that we do work hard to achieve - but without the need to do all the hum-drum things that being at home actually entail!

With my best regards,

Stephen

I and my partner got lost, well, not lost, but we didn't have acommodation on a Friday and looking for a place to stay, we found Rufflets by chance. It wasn't too late, but it was absolutely dark, we got here thanks to the GPS because we thought that was a "joke" as everything was black.
A bit scared, we asked for a double room and we were told there was one available for 99pounds. A bit expensive but definitely cheaper than other places we saw, so we decided to take it. When we were led to our room, we realised the luxury of the corridors and the room itself. We had a hot bath and enjoyed some tea and shortbreads (both delicious!!)
Next morning we had a full continental breakfast (included) and when we left the room we realised it was a 4**** hotel! We walked around the gardens and took many pictures of our lack!

I was pleased to read that you had managed to find us - and that we were able to offer a wonderful room with all the special touches that we provide, and that you did enjoy the short stay at the hotel.

Perhaps if you ever return to St Andrews you will be able to stay for longer!

My husband and I spent a night at Rufflets last weekend and are delighted to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are extremely pleasant and made us feel very welcome. The hotel is lovely and in a quiet location just outside St Andrews. The grounds are delightful and the hotel is beautifully decorated throughout. The atmosphere in the dining room was very pleasant and the food exquisite. We stayed in the Gilmore Suite which has recently been redecorated throughout and has had a lovely new bathroom fitted. This was our second visit to the hotel and I am sure it will not be our last.

Many thanks for the feedback - much appreciated.

We do work hard to maintain the quailty of the hotel - both in the public areas and the bedrooms - and have just finished a lot of (expensive!) refurb work.

But we also know that it is the high levels of customer service that we provide that goes to make our guests' visits that much better, and it is really pleasing to read when that effort has been noticed.

The whole team read these reviews and they will be delighted to see your comments.

Visited the hotel for an overnight stay with dinner for a birthday celebration, were made to feel very welcome right from the start. The young lady on reception went through the details of our stay took us on a personal tour of the hotels facilities and then to our room. The room overlooked the garden and was beautifully decorated. The do not disturb sign was a lovely teddy! All bar and dining room staff could not have been more attentive and public areas in the hotel were very clean and tastefully decorated. Bedroom 26 at end of corridor was a little noisy from fans in en suite bathrooms on either side but there are signs up asking guests to be aware of this and to ensure they switch them off when not in use. Could not recommend this hotel more a great location to see more of the East Neuk of Fife.

Delighted to see how much yoiu enjoyed the visit - and that all the little 'extra tocuhes' that we have were appreciated so much (and also the hot-water bottles are often mentioned as well at this time of year!).

And thank you for the recommendation - this is always the best form of advertising for us.

Hope that we might be able to see you back at Rufflets soon.

Came here with my husband and daughter for afternoon tea on my 40th birthday. Cakes were lovely, sandwiches nothing special. Surroundings absolutely stunning and I felt very 'at home' sitting looking over the garden! Waiting staff very nice too. Plan coming back over, but next time to stay!

Rufflets offered the ideal location for a January break in the East Neuk of Fife. It is easy to see why it's quiet, understated luxury makes it the prime choice of the world's top golfers when staying in St Andrews. Our room could not be faulted and the quality of the food on the table d"note menu was superb. It was accompanied by one of the best wines we have had for a long time. Highly recommended.

Dear Alistair

So pleased to read how much you enjoyed the experience - and we very much appreciate the time taken to give the feedback.

Having been closed for a few weeks in January for some refrub work to bedrooms, it had been good to see that we have been so busy since re-opening, and as well to see how much the work has been noticed by our guests.

Hope to see you back again soon - keep an eye on our website as we do have some special offers available from time to time.

My (then) boyfriend and I first visited Rufflets for the Hogmanny New Year party in December 2004. During that trip my boyfriend decided to spring the surprise of asking me to marry him. I accepted. Therefore Rufflets already had taken our hearts for this reason, along with the excellent personalised service, and the air of quiet gracious living (aka Downton Abbey style)

We decided to go back in December 2013 to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary. We received through the details of the events, which hadnt really changed from the last time. The Hogmanny celebrations are by their very nature, a chance to dress up. The hotel also offers an excellent practice session with the band leader on one of the afternoons for a couple of hours, to give you a chance to do well in the dancing.

Although the management had changed since the last time we had been here, the service and staff could not be faulted for their attention to guests needs. Many people at the event were multi-regulars, some like us travelling from the UK, and some even further than that. One couple had relocated to the UK, but in previous years had come from Canada to join the event.

The food was sublime on every occasion, the rooms were a delight with the Rufflets bear as a 'do not disturb' sign. Regulars will know of this quirk, and we decided to bring our own Rufflets bear back 'home' so he could be schooled in how to behave like a Rufflets bear!

The wine/food matching dinner was new, and a great joy. It is lovely to hear from experts both in the kitchen, and others. We both had another amazing stay at Rufflets and plan to come back again for another visit in the future.

Dear Janet

Many thanks for the very kind feedback - and we are all pleased to see not only how much you enjoyed the return trip to Rufflets, but also to see that it remains a very special place in your heart.

Indeed the management has changed - but the hotel is still firmly in the same family ownership that it was when it opened in 1952 - and it is the family ethos that we (the management) seek to carry forward.

Can only hope that it is not another 10 years before you find the chance to come back and see us all again!

With our very best regards,

Stephen
