My husband and I had a wonderful two day break - food was exceptional, staff were wonderful and the accommodation was great. Could not have asked for better. The ambiance of the hotel is superb, beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside - very relaxing.

Room Tip: As far as I am aware all rooms great.

Dear Jean P

So glad to hear that you and Mr P had a relaxing break in December.

It can be such a hectic time, and even when the hotel is so busy, I was pleased to read that you had both ahd a chance to enjoy the hotel, our staff and our food.

Perhaps you might get a chance to come back and enjoy the gardens when the blossom starts appearing.

Regards

Stephen

We travelled from the North West to stay at Rufflets for a family wedding and decided 3 nights would allow us to relax and enjoy the whole weekend - how right we were! On walking into reception we were greeting by a very warm and friendly member of staff and immediately knew that we were somewhere special, we could feel it. We stayed in room 33, it was spacious and comfortable with a lovely sitting area, the bathroom was again large and spacious with full size bath and walk in shower. Our room was at the back of the hotel with lovely views of the gardens. (The hot water bottle was a lovely touch) All public areas were equally comfortable with lovely seating areas and stylish decorations. Both breakfast and evening dinner were delicious with good choices and served by efficicient and friendly staff.

The wedding was a small family group and the attention to detail by Rufflets staff showed through on every point to make the day very special. We enjoyed our stay from start to finish and really felt like we had a real treat! We will highly recommend Rufflets and we would love to return in the future.

We actually live locally in St Andrews and have visited it for lunch, dinner and family celebrations over the years and seen it evolve over that time .It remains favourite for its class, quality, staff, food of course but more so because it is one those unique special places where the minute you walk in you relax, unwind, feel cared for. Not in an overpowering way but that everything has been carefully planned to make your stay memorable for all the right reasons.
On Saturday we got married and held our reception at Rufflets. All the guests stayed overnight being a small family 'do' and all were thrilled with their rooms, food, service etc.
Although Rufflets is just on the outskirts of St Andrews it will be the best extra mile you ever go !!

Room Tip: All the ones we occupied were superb. The family room is particularly nicely arranged Separate room b...

Dear Marianne G

We were all so pleased to hear how much you and the family had enjoyed the time spent at Rufflets for your wedding.

It is clear that your desire to create an intimate family affair for your special day was carried through by the team - something that we do put a great deal of effort into doing.

Like finding an oasis in a desert! After a long tiring drive this was just the sort of place that made it feel worthwhile. We received a warm friendly welcome at reception, and were shown up to our double room to find we had been upgraded. Our room was large with a King size bed and a sitting area, all the fixtures and fittings were worthy of a top class hotel. We had to leave to drop off our Grandaughter in St Andrews so returned too late to take advantage of the bar menu which looked extremely good. However we had a very good meal in the restaurant which was formal but relaxed. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. When we returned to our room we discovered that a hot water bottle had been put in our bed -bravo! that is what I call real service. Although it was very frosty outside the room was warm and comfortable and we had an undisturbed nights sleep. The breakfast was cooked to order and was superb. Difficult to find any fault without seeming churlish. The Hotel is family-run and retains the feel of a home rather than a Hotel. A great experience and one we would be happy to repeat.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review - and we were all so pleased to read how much you had enjoyed the experience at Rufflets.

Finding the balance of providing the top-rate service and facilities whilst maintaining the feel of 'the home-from-home' is not always simple, but it is clear that we can achieve it.

Look forward to being able to welcome you back at some point in the near future.

My partner and I are long haul cabin crew and were looking for a special place to celebrate my partners mums 80th birthday. We didn't want to travel far on this occasion and had been to St. Andrews before staying at the old course hotel. We had heard of ruffles and found a great deal with 5pm.com which included dinner, bed and breakfast. Before our arrival we contacted the hotel and paid extra for a turret room(room11). On arrival we received a warm and friendly welcome from Craig on reception who showed us to our room. The room was large with a very comfortable bed, small raised sitting area which overlooked the beautiful gardens.it also had a door which opened out to a balcony with a table and chairs(useful if you are a smoker). The room was comfortable and had free wi fi and a tin of homemade shortbread. The bathroom was large and modern with a great bath. Full sized moltonbrown brown products were also provided. Just off the reception are 2 seating areas in front of cosy open fires and views over the gardens. You can have afternoon tea here or pre dinner drinks and coffee. At -5 temperatures outside, the fires sides were great. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Extra touches by the restaurant staff such as a glass of bubbly and an 80th birthday candle were fantastic and helped make our time at ruffles very special.as I said the staff make this hotel a great find , especially Angela from the restaurant and Craig from reception. Hope to return someday.

Room Tip: Room11, turret room with small seating area, great bed and refurbished modern bathroom. This room has...

It is always good to be able to read when we have been able to provide such a good experience - and thank you for the kind words.

The hotel is a great place to visit, whether it be simply for coffee or for a longer stay, and it is the extra efforts that the staff put in to looking after our guests that makes the difference.

The team do take great pride in reading when their work is so appreciated - it certainly adds a spring to their step when they have been mentioned.

Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

With my best wishes,

We have enjoyed eating at this hotel restaurant so much over the recent years, that for all family gatherings, be it Birthdays, Christmas lunches or whatever, we always choose Rufflets.
Not only is the food absolutely exemplary, the atmosphere is perfect, the staff are pleasant, impeccably trained and attentive. We are always remembered and greeted like old friends, nothing is ever too much trouble and everything is geared to ensure complete enjoyment of whatever we are celebrating. As we live locally we have never stayed at the hotel, but from the comments of aquaintances or friends who have, that experience is extended throughout the range of services provided by this attractive and beautifully maintained hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the wonderful gardens are a delight especially during the summer months.

We've stayed a few times at Rufllets and always enjoy it. The staff are very friendly, the rooms well appointed and the food wonderful.

We use it as a base for exploring the surrounding area.. Crail, Anstruther etc. The Botanic Gardens in St Andrews are well worth a visit.

Looking forward to the next time....
