We walked from Elie to Anstruther on the most beautiful day. A well marked path, stunning scenery and a perfect chippie at the end in the world famous Anstruther Fish and Chip Restaurant. Who could ask for more.

Leven Beach – Come and Enjoy the Natural Beauty of the Seabirds and seals!

Please come and enjoy a walk along Leven Beach! – You will not be disappointed with this beautiful scenic beach. Start at the caravan park and follow the high tide mark along the beach. Time your walk so that the sea is coming in and almost reaching high tide mark. Try walking in your bare feet and experience the pleasure of the sand between your toes. Follow the high tide mark till you get to the rocks and Golf centre club house. Take the path behind the club house past some houses and bungalows then follow the path across the golf links and walk beside the old World-War 2 concrete block defences which will take you back to the caravan park. You may see a variety of sea birds and look out for the seals at high tide. Explore the rock pools at the club house and see if you can spot a crab or two. Also you can collect the different shells along the high tide mark as a reminder of your trip! A nice day out for all the family and well worth a visit! Public Toilets are available just before the Caravan Park and cost 30pence.

We did a part of the walk from Leven to Elie, it took us around 4 hours with a few breaks. We started at the Leven bus station and crossed the road to follow the beach. It goes along for a few kilometres before cutting along and then across a golf course then it goes for another few kilometres to Lower Largo with the Robinson Crusoe statute and some lovely houses. Lower Largo connects to Upper Largo and then you are basically in the fields along the beach, we followed the high water path and also the beach on occassion. It was easy walking and had some great views. The next stop was Shelley Bay where there is a huge holiday park and the you climb up a hill alongside some cliffs with great views back along to Leven and the coast and also up the coast to Elie and further. It was then downhill to Elie we had something to eat and got the No 95 bus back to Levin. Would highly recommend the walk and we are hoping to do a few more of the paths in the future.

Did the path between Crail and St Andrews and really enjoyed it. The terrain is quite rugged in parts, with a lot of the path eroded following the winter but lots of seabirds to spot and lovely beaches to walk through, so would definitely recommend it as an interesting walk. Could do with a bit of a clean up at this time of year to pick up the tons of plastic waste wshed up on the shores. Wish there were more like this around the coast.
