Description: No expense has been spared on Edinburghs Living Room restaurant, one of a clutch of popular style bars lining George Street. The dcor has been described as "Manhattan loft with a colonial twist, a pretty fair description of the chic, upbeat, welcoming atmosphere at The Living Room. Theres a lot of stylish wood, substantial brown leather armchairs, potted plants and sophisticated lighting. A slick entrance bar, brought alive most evenings by one of a superb roster of resident jazz pianist performing on a white baby grand, leads to a cavernous dining space where the balance between comfort and style is reflected in The Living Room's modern European menu. It ranges from snacks, salads and roasts (Sundays only) to comfort food classics and more ambitious pasta, grill and seafood dishes. Edinburgh diners love the international wine list and the sexy cocktails and absolutely everyone praises the service to the skies.

“Appalling service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

The service to order drinks and then food was shocking, also the wait for them to arrive was poor. I had fish and chips which was served on a board for poshness, didn't work well when trying to eat as it scattered all over the place. Fish and chips should be served on a plate or in newspaper. It was in fact the worst fish and chips I have ever tasted. The fish was tasteless that is after you dug it out of the greasy batter and the chips were terrible. All friends were disappointed with their meal. It may be one of Edinburgh's in places but we certainly won't be back.

“Distinctly Average”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014 via mobile

When looking for a nice restaurant for an easy week day meal we opted for the loving room. I was disappointed with the service, when asked if we could have cutlery it was just put on the table in a pile for us to sort out. Some drinks ordered were not brought to the table at all. The food portions for starters were very small especially for a cost of £6.95! Main Course was average - I've eaten in many Living Room restaurants in the UK and this meal didn't meet expectations.
