Description: No expense has been spared on Edinburghs Living Room restaurant, one of a clutch of popular style bars lining George Street. The dcor has been described as "Manhattan loft with a colonial twist, a pretty fair description of the chic, upbeat, welcoming atmosphere at The Living Room. Theres a lot of stylish wood, substantial brown leather armchairs, potted plants and sophisticated lighting. A slick entrance bar, brought alive most evenings by one of a superb roster of resident jazz pianist performing on a white baby grand, leads to a cavernous dining space where the balance between comfort and style is reflected in The Living Room's modern European menu. It ranges from snacks, salads and roasts (Sundays only) to comfort food classics and more ambitious pasta, grill and seafood dishes. Edinburgh diners love the international wine list and the sexy cocktails and absolutely everyone praises the service to the skies.

“Food ok but service way too long”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

The food was pretty good, though I thought quite expensive for what it's worth but we had a special discount so in the end, it worked out quite cheap. The service on the other hand was very disappointing - we arrived at 1:20 pm and got our main at 2:30pm. We would have probably liked to order dessert but considering the amount of time spent waiting to be served, we decided to leave after spending nearly 2 hours in the restaurant for one starter and one main. If you are looking for an intimate and cosy place, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as the room is quite big and can get very noisy as well. The bar seems nice though, much smaller and there was a pianist singing which I'm sure must be very pleasant whilst drinking a cocktail!

“Fantastic meal.”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Came hear for a meal on the friday night and it was absolutely heaving, which is always a good sign when the restaurant is totally full, and we were not dissapointed.
We had a pre starter of bread and houmus. Then my girlfriend and i both had a starter of breaded spicey prawns, absolutely lovely. Then for mains we had the fish and i had the steak, again both meals were cooked and presented to a very high quality. And the eton mess we had for desert was to die for!
Very reasonably priced and i highly recommend a visit, if not for a meal, a drink as the bar was very nice with a piano being played created a very romantic atmosphere.
Would come back to edinburgh just to come back for a meal here.

“Lovely dining and cocktails”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Brilliant selection of both gourmet and traditional food. The restaurant had a voucher for 50% off the a la carte menu, and as such the prices were extremely reasonable. If the voucher wasn't available we would probably have reserved going to this restaurant only for special occasions. However, the service was exceptional, and the food delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Also they had brilliant cocktails - with a cocktail in a teapot for 2!

“Lovely venue”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

I often eat here - it is definitely my favourite place for a Sunday lunch on George street. Compliments to the chef on the Moroccan spiced lamb - absolutely delicious.

The staff are always friendly and very efficient.

Looking forward to my next visit.
