“Stonkingly good food and more whisky than you can shake a stick at!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

Booked this restaurant on the off chance as I'd read a few reviews and my husband loves a wee dram of whisky. The food is great and the portions are sizeable so only order a starter if you're really hungry. Service was friendly and efficient and if you love whisky you're in for a real treat as the whisky flights allow you to try several different drams of certain types. Also, after 10pm they have traditional music every night which really adds to the atmosphere of the place.

I'd recommend you book a table as we went on a Monday night and it was full to bursting.

“Great stop for lunch on the Royal Mile”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

If you are on the Royal Mile and fancy a good lunch for a reasonable price this is a safe bet. Great burgers (I love the haggis burger) and some excellent fish and chicken dishes I've tried.

There's a decent selection of drinks at the bar, mostly just your standard beers (with the exception of Innis and Gunn which is amazing) which is why I see it more as a lunch venue than a pub to go for a drink in.

“250 to choose from”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

A legend of a pub ! At least 250 different whiskies and advise from the knowledgeable bar staff to seek out new favourites. As well as the whisky, they serve Thistly Cross cider, this is absolutely fantastic, and comes in a few flavours, nothing too trendy though ! It get's better as well, the food is excellent, massive delicious burgers, great fishcakes, big portions. Easy to find on the Royal Mile, so no excuse not to go.

“Great Start”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

This was the first place I ate in when I arrived and it set the bar for all others and fortunately that bar was high!. The Food, drink and Service were the precursor of the fun to come for the whole weekend!

Definitely going back!

“Warm, welcoming and a must visit if you love your whisky, food and music”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

We stumbled on the whiski whilst looking for a different pub and were drawn in by the vibrant yet cosy feel of the place. I had one of the best burgers I have ever had and my girlfriend insisted on returning the following night for her birthday. A whisky lovers paradise with friendly and patient staff. Also traditional music on every night. Go here!
