Description: The first Scottish venture for Brothers Chris and Jeff, The Pompadour by Galvin offers a luxurious French culinary experience, made using meticulously sourced local ingredients, and seasonally inspired flavours. One of the city's most precious treasures, The Pompadour was opened in 1925, inspired by the official chief mistress of Louis XV whose portrait adorns the walls with the Salon where you able to have pre & post dinner drinks before moving into the main dining room with its hand painted panels and original features

We recently had diner at the pompadour by gavin. Amuse bouce were served as soon as we sit so you can cool off and make your pleasant choice. We decided by a la carte only because it seemed that the menu might have too many services. Price is almost the same and the choices for the starters are also available a la carte. Very good scallops and amazing foie grass. Then the pork belly was also surprising. Good service and pace.

Normally closed on a Sunday evening the pompadour hosted a dinner for the fireworks to mark the end of the festival. A great night with magnificent views of the castle and the fireworks with fabulous food, wine and the best atmosphere. We had the gourmand menu with matching wines and a glass of champagne to watch the fireworks. The food as usual outstanding and the service with such special touches. I can't get enough of the place my favourite in Edinburgh. I just need a reason to go again! Thank you pompadour by galvin.

Enjoyed a lovely meal with friends celebrating a special occasion. Service was friendly but not exceptional which One expects at this level. We had to ask for glasses to be topped up with water etc which isn't expected at this standard of restaurant. Sommelier is very dramatical and smiley, others all very nice but quiet European staff working there too who's English is hard to comprehend easily.
A very nice evening and beautiful food that could be better although like we say, very good indeed.

Third visit to the Pompadour on Sunday night. Perfect night with fabulous food and very attentive staff. Had seven course tasting menu, hard to pick a favourite but lamb was excellent and chocolate cremeux lemon cake was fab. A glass of champagne to watch the fireworks was a sparkling end to a lovely evening. Love the little box of fudge as well. Thanks again to all the staff for making this a special evening.
