Description: Up and coming chef Jason Gallagher has done a fine job in turning the former haunt of local 'celebrity' chef Juliet Lawrence Wilson into a luxurious showcase of his own exciting style of Modern European cuisine. The basement space really is a lovely little restaurant for a romantic meal or special occasion. Black-painted walls decorated with modern art work well with plush golden upholstered chairs, thick white table linen and fairy lights to create an especially intimate atmosphere. Gallagher works with fresh, seasonal ingredients so the menu often changes, but the offerings are guaranteed to be indulgent and of the kind that feel like they're a real treat to be eating. Perfect service too.

This was our second visit to this restaurant, and we went with a large (10+) group again. The food was excellent and could not be faulted, and the menu had enough choices to keep everyone happy. Despite the somewhat disengaged manner of the serving staff we all had a great time and I would happily recommend this restaurant.

First I have to say that this restaurant were kind enough to fit us, a party of 5, in on Easter Sunday at the last minute which was hugely appreciated.

The food was perfect - well conceived, beautifully cooked and impeccably presented. We has a range of the dishes between us and there was not one that left us disappointed. Although the pork belly starter and venison main dish were widely agreed to be the winners!

The atmosphere was warm, intimate and welcoming. The only issue was the service. We had three courses and were in the restaurant for around 3 hours - which made it a substantial wait between courses. Despite the lovely food we wished we hadn't ordered dessert when it took so long to appear that we were all ready to go home!

Otherwise a really enjoyable evening and a restaurant that I would happily recommend and visit again (maybe just for two courses!)

We've eaten here a few times on the A la Carte menue, but had the opportunity to take advantage of the fixed menus on a sunday evening, with added bonus of being able to take our own wine (£4 corkage). 3 course for £24.95 (plus supplements on some dishes).

It was pretty quiet when we arrived at 7pm, but soon became busy. The resulting atmoshpere was chattery and relaxed with no pretenious chat!

We both started with rabbit wrapped in pancetta in a madeira sauce with ceps and it was divine - probab;y one of the best dishes of food I have had.

I then had the chicken - with more mushrooms and my husband had the venison, accompanied by a venision pie (cottage pie style). It was perfectly cooked for him and the flavours outstanding and looked amazing. There was a supplement attached to this

We had to make sure we managed desserts and I had chocolate brulee, with chocloate brownie and praline icecream which was lovely and light.

Will defiantley make sure I return again soon and would recommend this any day of the week!

On the advice of other reviewers, we went to the Stockbridge Restaurant while in Edinburgh and had a spectacular meal. First it was hard to choose what to order because it all looked so good -- but alas we did. We started with the seared salmon and spiced pigeon appetizers and were in heaven from the first bite. Then we moved on to the venison loin and duck breast and the delicious tastes continued. We topped it off by sharing the chocolate brulee which was also so very good. For each of the courses the flavors were so tasty without being overwhelming. In addition Jane Walker and her staff were welcoming and made us feel right at home in such a lovely dining room. We highly recommend that you visit this wonderful restaurant

quality of the food was fantastic.
a range of meals ordered. set menus and individual meals. all exceptional. every plate cleared.
wasn't cheap but you pay a little more for quality.
