Popular with the residents of Stockbridge, this great little cafe serves the most delicious breakfasts from porridge to the full Scottish. I had a bacon roll. The bacon was crisp and plentiful, served in a fresh seeded roll. Piping hot coffee. Unlike other visitors, I can happily say the service we received was friendly and efficient.

My daughter and i had breakfast here on our visit to Edinburgh. We had croissant with brie and bacon, and tea. The food was good, the service not. The cafe was empty when we arrived, no one said hello. The order was taken and food served without a smile and friendly attitude. The staff obviously need a course in smiling and how to treat customers. The interior of the cafe is ok, but there are other cafes in the neighborhood where you also get good food, and a smile as well.

I often call in here for breakfast - great eggs benedict and good coffee. It is a neighbourhood cafe, not very big and can be a bit cramped but well worth it for the food.

Had a bowl soup in Maxi's cafe yesterday , it was average (courgette pea and mint ) the bread was average too , the service was very poor which really let the place down .The bill for 2 bowls of soup was £7 which i thought was very steep.
I have been to Maxi's several times for lunch i must say it is going downhill, it used to be much better ,it was difficult to get a table, yesterday only a few tables were occupied, better buck up Maxi's.

We have visited Maxi's on many occasions on our regular visits to Edinburgh mostly for lunch or and afternoon snack and most recently we had breakfast before our journey home.
We find the food is consistently good and the service excellent.
Sometimes you may have to wait a while for an order if the place is busy and it is a little pricey but it has always been a good experience.
