Description: Situated on the Leith waterfront, The Shore is the ideal destination for those wishing to spend an evening in Edinburghs historic port. Boats line the harbourside where the sun sets slowly on hot summer nights, making The Shore a quiet and idyllic location: perfect for a relaxing evening and an intimate meal. The ambience is warm and charming, enhanced by the traditional and candlelit dcor of informal 18th century wood panelling, huge mirrors and real fires. The cuisine fuses classic British dishes with a modern European twist; we love the pecan-crusted fillet of ostrich, served with blue cheese dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. After dinner, head to the bar, where live entertainment is provided most evenings by local jazz and folk musicians.

“SUNDAY ROAST JUST LIKE MUM'S!”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

If you want a good honest Sunday roast dinner this is the best. We had roast beef with all the trimmings and it really was absolutely delicious!! Only down side is they dont do a set menu, the roast is £17 and when you add the extras it can be quite pricey so watch for that. Think it woud be much nicer if they just did a three course set menu.

“What a solace”
Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

After days of burgers, home cuisine, incredible people, good hearthy food and good music. They managed to have fun with our rugby club, whose name, old pigs, tells the whole story.

“Welcoming Gastro Pub”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

This pub was recommended in Peter Irvine's Scotland the Best. A group gathered to celebrate my birthday so we were somewhat lively even though it was only Tuesday night. The food was very good, with emphasis on quality rather than large platefuls. The dessert was especially good and the prices reasonable. We finished off with a fine whisky at the bar and some terrific jazz performed by some very talented locals.

“Casual fine dinning”
Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

We came here for my Birthday my husband was really not wanting to go however I managed to persuade him.
On appearance it is a typically looking Leith pub, with tables set up for eating its not the cleanest looking and gives over a feel of old men chatting about football over a pint, but do not be fooled, the food is to die for.
My husband had the scallops for starters and after voicing his concern about the place he was then making noises that you would normally only hear on when Harry Met Sally.
We both had three courses with wine and coffee each course was as good as the last both in taste and in appearance and although the courses were small we were totally satisfied.
All and all this is Casual Fine Dinning at great great prices.
Do not be put of by it's appearance this is a wee haven.
