Having eaten in a few Michelin star restaurants what number one has over most of the rest is superb service!
On arrival we had a G&T aperitif. Both of them appeared flat, no problem no questioning - simply changed.
My husband is pretty fussy and doesn't eat fish or selfish and I fancied the tasting menu. We asked if he could supplement the seafood courses - no problem at all.
Courses to highly recommend
- asparagus and black pudding egg, the mix of flavours clean and rich at the same time
- rabbit roll, smokey and rich
- the strawberry, champagne and elderflower amuse bushe - out of this word!
Service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, now that's a hard balance to get right! My husband had a piece of fluff on his main course. The waiter heard us discussing and offered to change both our main courses so we could have fresh meals together and when we said it was fine they offered us a cheese course on the house.
An excellent experience and we will be back! If I had one slight critisicm it would be the coffee. My Americano was like a weak filter coffee with no creme. You get a better coffee from a nespresso machine. But overall the food and the service at Number One is hard to beat. Give it a try!
