“OK if you need a stopover”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2011

We booked here in preference to a motel in a big budget chain, as we only paid about £20 more and we figured it would be worth it to have a swimming pool and a full-service hotel. The location of the hotel is a bit odd - inbetween a railway, a bypass and a rather drab retail park. There is nowhere to walk if you want to eat other than in the hotel. The restaurant was expensive - £10 minimum for a basic dish but food was clearly freshly made and the service was very good. We didn't take breakfast as it was £13.50 per head for continental. The rooms were as expected and nice to have a queen bed plus a sofa bed for our children. All in all, can't really fault this hotel as staff were helpful and polite but just didn't feel that it was anything out of the ordinary and we would probably go for the budget motel next time to save the £20 (and have the convenience of a cheap pub attached for supper and a fast food chain for breakfast the next morning!), but if you wanted an airport hotel or a cheap hotel near Edinburgh and close to the train station, I would recommend it. Equally, we might stay here again if we got a cheap deal.

Stayed here as could not get home from work due to snow. The hotel is situated at the edge of Edinburgh park. Hotel is situated 2 mins from Edinburgh park. Checked in at reception and very friendly and fast. Room was spacious with all the usual etc's. Tea and coffee included with hot chocolate and herbal tea. Mini bar in room but as industry standard, it was over priced. queen bed. High speed Internet and 20" flatscreen TV with on demand content, wake up call. Overall it was good value for money and def would stay there again.

Stayed one night here. Single traveller and got a fantastic room with a queen bed. it was snowing and it was a bit of a nightmare to get from train to hotel. its about a 3 minute walk but in the snow it was horrendous. When I got to my room I could not get window shut, when I mentioned it to reception she moved me immediately no questions asked. Pool and leisure suite unmanned, has an emergency call butoon for help. This is a good idea as it saves money. Next day snow was really heavy. Got to train station (trip worse this time as more snow) to find there were no trains so walked back to hotel. They ordered a taxi for a group of us who had been hanging about train station. I asked for teas and coffess to wam people up. They charged us for these drinks which I thought was a bit much as they were still directing people towards train station when we returned. Another plus point is free internet access in reception where there are 2 PCs. Overall great experience. Breakfast superb with fruits, nuts and all usual hot stuff.

We were staying here whilst attending a music workshop for a weekend at a nearby school. The location would not suit tourists wanting to explore the sights of the sity centre however it was extremely handy for us and the fact it is literally a 100 metres from the City by-pass and the M8 means it is very easy to get to.

This is probably a popular place for business customers rather than for a holiday. It is a modern hotel and has quite a classy feel to it when you first enter the lobby. Staff very efficient and helpful. The restaurant was deserted so not much atmosphere, however the service was excellent, food very good and the staff were children friendly - my daughter accidentally knocked over a glass of water and rather than spent time mopping up around us, the waiter simply directed us to a fresh table.

Rooms were clean and modern, although the bed not the most comfortable we've slept in and the pillows were lumpy (why don't more hotels copy Holiday Inns with their 'pillow menu'?) book.

Whilst the hotel is right next to the motorway/bypass/railway line and, eventually the new tramline, the soundproofing inside is, surprisingly, very good.

The hoted also has a pool/jacuzzi and gym facility which were always quiet, bonus when you go with small children!

There were also PCs available in the lobby with free (20 mins at a time) web access which was useful.

All in all, an enjoyable stay and we will very likely be back at this hotel, if we need to stay in the area again, but we're bringing our own pillows next time!
