New hotel within 8 min to city center by train and short drive to airport. Free parking and nice breakfast.

Modern bathroom, not far away form airport, cheap special offers, but there were other hairs in the bed and stains at the carpet and curtain.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your stay with us. I apologise for the lack of cleanliness that you encountered in your bedroom, this is not the usual high standard that we strive to achieve at Novotel. I have shared you comments with our housekeeping team to prevent future recurrence.
I do hope you will consider staying with us again next time you are in Edinburgh

Rooms
Have irons, ironing board and tea coffee facilities The bathrooms are great but watch out for that shower! We pressed the button for shower on the digtal box on the shower wall and did not realise there were 2. This one came from a large shower-head on the ceiling and NOT the normal flexible hosed one that was there as well. It was great. The shower door leaked water - placing the bath mat below the hinges in the door solved this being a problem

We ordered room service, for which you pay an extra. Food was fine, but, you have a desk and dressing table that turns into a table for eating from. The only problem is that you have one chair in the room so one of you has to sit on the bed to eat.

They had no information pack or information on the TV regarding hotel facilitates meal times opening time of swimming pool or bar. We felt this information was very important as this was a holiday week-end and breakfast could be later

Bar and Restaurant
This lets the hotel down it is an open plan area and the bar has a large Flat Screen TV tuned to Sky Sports or similar. I’m not into football, but the football shirted guests obviously were. You could not sit and have a quiet drink or sit and have a meal without this continuous noise.
For this reason we went out to eat, rather than our planned few drinks and a meal.
It is a buffet breakfast and we could not fault it. It had plenty of choices. Like most hotels I wish they would not do scrambled eggs however, they always end up looking like powdered ones

Swimming
Pool looked great but small.

This is a great hotel for families. If you get a great deal go for it. If it is cold or raining (It’s Edinburgh so the chances are high )the kids would love the pool.
If you required a quiet hotel so you could deal with business this may not be the hotel for you.

We wanted a decent hotel as a base for Edinburgh but as we were driving up it had to be car friendly. This place ticked all the boxes.

Firstly, it is very easy to get to, at the end of the M8 or from the A720 take the junction for Hermiston Gait, and its several storeys high so it stands out a mile. Lots of free car parking adjacent and the Edinburgh Park station is a few minutes stroll away. From there you're at Waverley in less than a quarter of an hour - £2.50 off peak return and there are plenty of trains throughout the day.

Otherwise, all is typical generic modern Novotel. Very stylish, nice rooms which are well equipped. Comfy bed, extra pillows if you need them. Not much problem with noise but you get the odd train rattling past. Didn't use the swimming pool or gym but they looked good, and the bar and restaurant were well laid out. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

One small snag was a very busy breakfast time and the staff (and food) seemed a little stretched at times, but only a minor quibble. The breakfast was plentiful and good quality.

Edinburgh is hardly a cheap city but save some of your money by staying here and getting the train in - a very pleasant and convenient hotel.

Stayed with wife and friends on a Friday. The area around the hotel is like a rubbish dump with empty bottles and litter everywhere..needs sorting it's an eyesore. Check-in was ok and the room clean except for some fluff and a few hairs on the bathroom floor. The bed was comfortable and the duvet fine. Next to the railway line, but the double glazing kept most of the noise out. Breakfast was good and plentiful but we weren't greeted when we entered and then went overlooked so we got no tea or coffee. The restaurant floor was filthy. The pool and leisure area looked inviting but we didn't have enough time to enjoy it. 7/10.
