“Strategic position”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

In a very good position for the Edinburgh Airport, they’ve a swimming pool and leisure on the basement and a restaurant as well. It’s a little difficult to arrive there because of some GPS could not find the exact position and there’s nothing apart a couple of fast foods around it. Anyway it could be a good choice for a business travel because the room is big and clean and very comfortable. Not a good choice for a tourist that would visit the city centre.

Great value for money. Clean rooms and very helpful and friendly staff. Preferred the out of town location as it is quieter at night. The hotel is near an industrial estate which didn't bother us, but some people may like nicer surroundings. Children received a free toy on arrival, which they loved.

Stayed here on business for one night last month. Headed in to Edinburgh at night and its about 15/20min cab drive. Hotel itself is just ok and typical business type place. Pool, though small, was nice for a quick swim. Room was fine.

We stayed for three nights. We enjoyed our stay. The best way to word it is although it is advertised as being in Edingbugh Park, it is not accesable directly from Edingbugh Park, as it is the other side of the railway line. Perfectly suited for the bypass and Edingbugh access. Train station close. The only thing I can really complain about is the fact for two adults and a child breakfast cost us £27 which is very expensive! We also had a meal one evening, cost again was high, but the dinner was beautiful and felt very much worth it. Reception staff on book in very child friendly. Pool and steam room lovely. All in all a nice stay, but would love a room with a nicer view next time.

I have stayed in this hotel a couple of times now and have to say I will continue to return. Park your car, check into your room and then get a train to Edinburgh in minutes. After a day of walking around Edinburgh this is a great hotel to return too. Relax in the pool before enjoying a meal from the restaurant, perfect for us :)

We were kinda stuck for a venue as the day after we needed to be in the area so I booked in with a small bit of trepidation. The location is far from romantic, though it is not advertised as such, and the initial room (an upgrade) cemented the fact. Very small, though modern, it was far from ideal for our purposes (ideal for a single business person) so I enquired about another upgrade.
The suite was excellent, great bathroom with bath and huge walk in shower, nice bedroom and a huge sitting room with dining table, sitting area and couch. We had dinner and breakfast in the room, bath robes the dress code and spent a very enjoyable Valentines here.
The upgrade was essential for the enjoyment on this trip but a normal room for a normal night may suffice. Upgrade costs were VERY reasonable for the increase in space and comfort.
Would go back but probably only if the suite was available. Cannot understate how brilliant it was.
Locality was lacking for my visit but for shopping or business it must be good, value was excellent for the suite, probably only average if that wasn't available but our stay was great!!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite! They are few but top floor on the corner very quiet. Superior room very nice bu...

We are glad that you enjoyed the upgrade to the suite. As you say we do only have 2 suites but we also have 6 executive rooms which are slightly smaller than the suites but have similiar facilities. Thank you for staying at Novotel Edinburgh Park.

I have NEVER stayed at a Novotel before. First impressions may not be fair to judge a hotel chain by, but I think it safe to say that I will hesitate to book with this chain ever again.

The hotel touts its newness, and indeed it screams modern... unfortunately that is accompanied with fixtures that do not work and furnishings that have an abused look, despite being "new". I'd describe the decor as an IKEA experience - nothing wrong, if that's what you like. But when the shower controls do not work, and the drain either... when the window will not close all the way and the curtains won't either... yeah, I'm not so impressed.

I did appreciate the fitness and swimming center. Very well done. Also the Hotel restaurant was surprisingly good. We had an excellent sit down dinner our first night.

The staff was extremely UNHELPFUL when it came to almost ANY kind of service. At check-in, we were informed that one of our two booked and prepaid rooms had been cancelled because some one decided that we had a duplicate booking. These things happen sometimes. I get that. Mistakes get made. It is how an organization deals with them that sets the excellent apart from the mediocre. In our case, we were given that second room only by guaranteeing payment with a nebulous assurance that we should be able to recover duplicate charges later. Worse, the staff speaks English as a second or third language, which is OK if you are asking "where's the bathroom", but not so cool when it is not clear if you have that second room or not, who is going to pay what when, who is going to straighten the mess out, etc. You don't get happy from hours at the front desk, multiple phone calls and emails back to the US, and a sense that it is YOUR problem to deal with.

Note to Novotel: This is 2013. You include WiFi in the room price. You are not The Willard.

Location is OK. We came by car. The hotel is close to a train station just two stops out of the city, and a short walk to a shopping center nearby. You can even order pizza for delivery, as we discovered, on-line (Pizza Hut, mind you). A downside of the location is road noise. Also, this IS an inherently noisy hotel (clientele, and quality of construct ion).
