“Novotel Edinburgh Park in a monsoon.”
Reviewed July 14, 2011

Easy check in, even easier check out, no hassle for turning up with an extra guest even though the company had prepaid breakfast / dinner. And the weather!! it's a good place to spend a verry wet day of floods etc. Just head down to the Gym and Pool / Spa.
Stayed there many times now and it beats all the downtown hotels. And by the way the food is better than most, although most are not good and I have stayed in most of them so I can compare.

This was our first time to this hotel. It's location suggests that it is pitched at the large business park that surrounds it at the west side of Edinburgh. We chose it as an airport hotel alternative. We got a quality room for nearly £ 25 less than the usual offerings at EDI . It is less than 2 miles further from the airport so not a huge issue. Parking was not a problem . There is also a swimming pool on site which makes a compelling proposition. There is a railway station with an excellent service in to Edinburgh city within a couple of hundred yards. We intend to use this hotel in future for our weekends in Edinburgh . We will not have to worry about parking and hotel room rates which approach London rates at times!!

Stayed here due to work every week for 6months. There is always something broken in room whether it's shower, tv, window etc. No mobile reception in 90%of rooms Food is overpriced. Breakfast is ok but service not great. Only stay in no where else. It's clean!

Booked this because the rest of the city seemed to be fully booked. It's in the middle of nowhere unless you want to be near the airport. But it is spotlessly clean, staff are friendly and the food is remarkably good for a 'functional' hotel. Faultless infact. Watch the wine though!

We booked this hotel for one night via a booking site for the end of a holiday which saw us arriving into the airport at around midnight. It was a Saturday night and Edinburgh was VERY expensive because of the Rugby 7s taking place over the weekend. We paid around £90 for a double which seemed reasonable considering the circumstances.
The hotel is in the Edinburgh Park (business and retail complex) which is around a 10 min taxi ride from the airport. The following day we got into town by taking the very regular train service from the Edinburgh Park station which is less than a 5 min walk from the hotel (reception have printed timetables and maps). This took around 5-10 mins.
Arriving late at night, there was some confusion about our booking and the receptionist/night porter tried to tell me I had booked 2 rooms. It was resolved after some time and we were sent up to our room.
The room was large with a king sized bed and sofa bed. Modern and clean with large windows, a nice bathroom and shower, tea/coffee facilities, flat screen TV etc. No complaints whatsoever about the room which was quiet (even though overlooking the train tracks) and comfortable.
We ordered room service which was limited due to the time of night but quick to arrive and nice enough. Breakfast was a very good selection and also nice.
A couple of downsides - we had arranged with central reservations (based in Europe somewhere) to have a late check out at 2pm and although this was noted on our reservation, we had 3 knocks on our door from as early as 10am and 2 phonecalls from reception asking when we were leaving. Thankfully we were awake so it didn't wake us but it was annoying considering we had arranged it because of our late flight and arrival.
We didn't use the pool etc but it looked nice.
When checking out, the receptionist tried to charge us for breakfast even though we had a B&B rate.
Overall I would rate the hotel fairly highly. It is not a luxury hotel but it is modern and clean. The location is good for the airport and hadly for getting into town but not "in the thick of it" so might be less convenient for evenings out etc. The staff were pleasant but didn't seem to know much about our booking which I had spent time arranging (ie breakfast and check in/out). Facilities are good and the hotel feels very European. Would thouroughly recommend if the price is right, especially for families looking for a "base" for a trip to Edinburgh or for the airport. I would probably try to book somewhere in the centre of town for a night-out stay or weekend of sightseeing.
