Arrived late but still welcomed by Richard. The room suited our needs for a much needed break. Being in a great location meant we were able to explore the main tourist areas in Edinburgh and more before returning to the quietness of Lantern House. The private entrance to the basement rooms was great as we could come and go without worrying about disturbing anyone. The bed was very comfy and there was a great sized shower. We will return.
Just returned from a lovely weekend in Edinburgh, having stayed at the Lantern Guest House. We were provided with plenty of information from our host, Richard, including a map of the city (which we couldn't have done without) and details on how to get to the guest house from the airport and how much this should cost.
Our room was simple but cosy, with everything we needed. It was nice and warm throughout the night, and the bed was comfy ensuring a good nights sleep. There were spare blankets and pillows available in our room. We were provided with towels, and even a hair dryer. We also had an en-suite, tv, tea and coffee making facilities and free wi-fi.
The coded door was a handy touch meaning we could enter and exit our room freely without bothering other guests or our hosts. In the hallway, we had the option of using a fridge, microwave, cutlery and crockery.
In all we had everything we could require, and plenty of freedom to do as we wished. The location was excellent, about 10 minutes walk from the centre, and we certainly did not miss out on breakfast as it meant we could enjoy the delicious food of Edinburgh.
A really pleasant stay, we would come here again and definitely recommend!
perfect for short stay and exploring the city of Edinburgh. would stay here again. little Italian diner on the corner is great value for eating breakfast/lunch/ dinner. short stroll from shops. there were Christmas markets around the city on which was very nice and added to the festive season experience
This was easy to book, professional, simple and great. If you want a no fuss, no frills stay in Edinburgh, this is the place for it. Lovely room in a lovely building. Bed, en-suite bathroom, tv, wifi. Simple. This was great value for money also and I couldn't recommend it more.
Just got back from our long weekend in Edinburgh, we stayed in room 2 for 3 nights and it was perfect as our little base as we explored the city. Felt very independent being able to let ourselves in and out with the door codes, the room had all of the amenities that were needed (the bed was very comfy!), and not having breakfast meant that we could wake up whenever and explore the local brunch options. We'll definitely be staying there again when we hopefully revisit in a couple years time :) Thank you!
Amazing location for access to the city centre, clean rooms which were well equipped for a short stay. The owner was friendly, always available to help and work round our schedules and generally just gave the impression he couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were a good size, comfortable and there were ample facilities put at our disposal. The system of having a personal code to enter the site meant you could return at whatever time you wanted without fear of disturbing anyone. Overall a fantastic experience, would book here again without a doubt and would recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in Edinburgh.
