Very clean, well presented, typical innkeepers lodge with the bar and restaurant at the front. Not a great choice on the menu but that was to be expected. Rooms wise, I've slept in bigger single beds, for 2 people the bed was tiny, 4'0" wide is not good , at the end if the day though, it's somewhere to sleep. If you're travelling. By train, avoid a taxi from the station, £14 fare, instead get the 12, 26 or 31 bus, stops right outside and only £3.50 for a day ticket, correct money only, no change given. I'd recommend an Edinburgh pass £29, £39 or £49 for a 1, 2 or 3 day pass, plan your weekend and make major savings. Try and bag yourself a Tastecard to make great food savings too. Overall a great weekend but it was the company that made it better.

My family and i had a two night stay here in February. We were down for the Scotland v Italy match at Murrayfield and also a visit to the zoo.
The room was a decent size with a double bed and sofa bed . It was warm and clean .
Downstairs in the bar/dining room the food was very good and the price of a pint very reasonable. The location was good with the zoo and Murrayfield being a fifteen minute walk away.
On the downside the double bed was far too soft and noise from the street below was very loud.
Overall the price we paid for the two nights was fair enough and we would probably use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the car park would be quieter than the one we had facing the road.

stayed here for 2 nights, 30 pounds per night great value, continental breakfast was fine, stayed in an accessable room on the ground floor at the front, bit noisy due to traffic could have done with secondary glazing, the room was spacious considering there were 3 of us, carvery at night very busy but good value, overall would stay again no problem especially at 30 pounds per night.

Have stayed here a few times in the last month with work and for the deal of £30 a night its excellent value. Staff are very friendly, rooms are cleans and with free wifi. Continental breakfast is very good as well, the carvery in the evening is great too, they clearly also have a good following of locals who come for an evening meal. Only a short bus into the centre of Edinburgh or likewise to the airport.

Can pay a lot more in the centre of town for nothing better, happily recommend this to anyone.

Certainly would not recommend this hotel to friends. We stayed here for 2 nights over Hogmanay 2012.
Positive points - beds were comfortable, tea making facilities were provided, safe off-street parking, good location from the City Centre...
Negative points - The hallways smelt of cooking food, the bedrooms were freezing cold (we had to sleep in thermals and fleeces), the bathrooms weren't cleaned very well (hairs on the floor), we went down for breakfast the first morning (approx an hour before breakfast was supposed to finish) and the breakfast and drinks had been put away! we had to ask for some bread to make toast and cereal - we went hungry the second day! we paid £180 for 2 nights, granted it was over New Years, but expected a higher service and quality than that for the price. Friends were staying at the Holiday Inn down the road and paid less for a cleaner and more comfortable room.
