Ann and Mike make you feel like the long lost relative as soon as you enter their house. You couldn't ask for more gracious hosts. The room we had facing the street was large and well appointed and when the sun came in through the window in the morning it was a wonderful place to wake up in. Although we were facing the street, it was still very quiet. The bathroom was of good size and had all the amenities that you would want.
The breakfast could consist of the full English breakfast: eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoe and toast or whatever part of that you would like. There was also a variety of cold cereals that could be had as well. Mike offered different types of toasted bread with some of their homemade marmalades and jam which were excellent. For beverages, juice, tea and coffee were available. You will not leave the table hungry, guaranteed.
The location of the home is only a 10 to 15 minute walk across the Meadows to get you into Old Town Edinburgh. In the morning it was fantastic walking across the Meadows to start the day and in the evening when returning, there is a great little shop just after you leave the Meadows where you can stop and have a cup of tea and maybe a sweet to end the day.
I would highly recommend this B&B. Thank you Ann and Mike for making our stay wonderful.

I stayed at Ann and Mike's a few years ago with my girlfriend and we both keep wonderful memories of this phenomenal B&B - warm welcome, fantastic homemade breakfast, beatiful and spotless rooms and great location. We look forward to return with our child soon.

We arrived at this B&B earlier than expected but this was not a problem. The owners Mike & Ann were very accommodating and allowed us to leave our car and luggage and freshen up before walking into Edinburgh centre which only took about 10 minutes across The Meadows. Our room at 17 Tantallon Place overlooked the front garden. It was large and well equipped including tea & coffee making facilities and even a jar of Scottish shortbread. The bathroom was spacious with a lovely walk in shower - wonderful after spending the afternoon walking around Edinburgh Castle and The Mile. The following morning after a hearty breakfast of fresh fruit, cereal, full cooked English (or should I say Scottish!) and toast and jams - Mike's homemade marmalade was delicious, we again were allowed leave the car in the driveway enabling us to enjoy another morning in Edinburgh centre before moving on. Mike & Ann are wonderful hosts and we would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a place near the centre of Edinburgh.

Mike et Ann sont super accueillants et intéressants. Ils vous recevront dans leur belle maison typique, avec sourire et humour!

I spent a wonderful night, in the great bed. The room and shower were perfectly clean, with shampoo, conditionner and soap. The house is lovely, and the breakfast was delicious, with a lot of choices :)

And you are in the Old Town, 10 min walking to the City Center.

Bien situé, facile d'accès, rue calme.

Charming attentive hosts, lovely rooms and comfortable beds, 15 mins walk or bus into town, good restaurants and pubs within 5 minutes walk. (See Cafe Cassis, Hewat's, Cask and Barrel, "The Royal Dick" bar in old vet. school). Breakfast (home made marmalade, classic porridge, perfectly cooked full breakfast (sausages may be small but meaty and full of flavour)) hits the spot and ready to face the many hills in the city.

Mike and Ann are fantastic hosts: we have stayed at Tantallon Place several times and it is always our number one choice when we are in Edinburgh. This 4 star B&B is run with outstanding hospitality and attention to detail from the fresh milk provided to the elegant rooms and the wonderful cooked breakfasts with local bread and home made marmalade and jam. Nothing is too much trouble for Ann and Mike, as all their reviews testify. The location in the Grange is central enough to make most sights in Edinburgh within walking distance, yet the area is so quiet it is hard to believe you are in the city at all. There are numerous restaurants within a ten minute walk, so eating out in the evening is no problem.
