Absolutely terrible accomodation.
Greeted by the Manager who wasn't even aware of our booking. Apartment itself was absolutely disgusting. Filth everywhere! Had to check out and find alternative accomodation. Refund never issued by them. Even though promised for months by Alexis that it had been refunded. Thankfully bookings.com has fixed that issue direct with us and now apartments owe them! Staff swearing outside infront of our children. Extremely unprofessional and a disgrace! Will NEVER stay again. Please don't be fooled by the reply from the managers. They are clear liars and very deceitful. Hopefully pictures will be uploaded and you can judge the apartment yourself.

These apartments are minutes from town centre. Bus stops right outside. Great value for money. Well appointed very clean and quiet. No issues at all with these so will be returning next trip. The group shared the apartment for a long bank holiday weekend and it suited our needs perfectly. If I had one fault to pic it would be the paper thin blind in bedroom. Being a lite sleeper the tissue blind didn't help. Please don't let that put you off what are great apartments.

I am very sorry to relate this absolutely true story but we were very upset last month. I made a confirmed booking at Lochend Serviced Apartments (with Booking.com) on 21 July 2012 to arrive ONE YEAR LATER on 17 July 2013. We were attracted by the excellent reviews and the fact that it was in situated quietly in Leith. The location was very important to us. We were driving on 17 July 2013, just a few minutes from Edinburgh, when I received a text message saying the booking had been cancelled!! Somewhere else had been booked instead by the owner. Booking.com were not responsible for the cancellation. As it was a long standing booking, made one year beforehand, I was extremely annoyed. I rang the Apartments and was told brusquely that the flat was not usuable and I had to go to the alternative booking. I asked politely if it was possible for an alternative flat at Lochend to be made available but he said it was not possible. The owner pointedly refused to go into detail as to why our flat was not available. We were closeby so I said we would call around to Lochend to have a look at the flat to confirm his decision. He refused to show us and when asked again, the owner put the phone down on me. Seeing a badly damaged flat (?) would have put our mind at rest. With no reasonable reason why the flat was unusuable, we strongly suspected that more lucrative bookings for the nearby Muirfield Open Golf had been accepted and our booking had been dumped. With no reasonable alternative explanation from the owner, I could not draw any other conclusion. Booking.com were very sympathetic but said they could no do anything.
The alternative first floor accommodation was situated on a very busy scruffy central Edinburgh street, above a busy traffic light junction, in an inconvenient part of the city and opposite a noisy late night pub. The nearest secure off street parking at the alternative Apartment Offices was 250 yards away. I have photos and video to prove the point. It reduced my wife to tears and there is no way we would have chosen such a location. When the extremely helpful alternative apartment staff tried ringing Lochend to sanction one of their better flats above their offices, Lochend refused to comply.
Our two night visit to Edinburgh was completely over shadowed by the awful Lochend Apartments actions and attitude.

Dear Guest,

Im sorry to see that you was not happy with the alternative accommodation that we booked for you in Edinburgh, unfortunately your apartment had been damaged by a previous guest and very unfortunate that it would not have been ready for your arrival.

It was myself that sent you a txt message, our usual code of practise is to call you however, i did call 3 times with no answer, so it was decided to send you a txt message with the hope that you would see thisbefore your arrival, to allow you to go straight to the alternative apartment rather than a wasted trip to ourselves and then to the new accommoation.

I am aware that your apartment had been booked a year in advance but so had 80% of our other bookings, it was unfortunate that this had happened to your apartment and you being outbooked had nothing to do with the golf. We base the majority of our business on repeat custom from returning guests, not events which only last a few days in Edinburgh or the surrounding areas.

We are aware that location is important to the majority of our guests and as you pointed out it was a golf weekend and so Edinburgh had nearly no accommodation to be had, we picked the best accommodation out of what was left to be had in Edinburgh, to which we also paid the difference in price which was very high due to the high demand in Edinburgh this particular weekend. We always ensure when outbooking that the apartments we outbook to our like to like with our apartments, i.e star rating, facilities etc. The apartment was very central to the City Centre which is what we find most of our guests are looking for, im sorry that we got it wrong on this occassion.

Yes we had refused you access to the apartment as this is not our standard practise, the apartment had been damaged and so no one other than our maintenace team whom are trained to work and carry out maintenace in these situations, would be allowed access until the apartment was of a standard which would not cause any accident or harm to staff and guest alike. Again it was myself that you spoke to and i did not hang up the phone to you, i thought it was you whom had hung the phone up on me. To which i had tried to call you back but was met with your voicemail.

Again im sorry that you were not happy with the accommodation which we had sourced for you as an alternative to our apartments, but as i have previously said we picked the best possible accommoation which was 4 star also, which cost significantly more than our apartments out of what was left to book in Edinburgh. Customer service is very important to us and im sorry you did not feel that we had done everything we could to allow you to enjoy your weekend in Edinburgh.

Booked these apartments back in June direct with the hotel customer service was great from the offset, I asked for some information regarding what is in the local area bus times tables etc which they done with ease and promptly, arrival and check in ran easily, the apartments are clean, modern and was perfect for our stay. The apartment was of good size for our family of 4. The apartments are in a good location with very good bus links to the city centre. On our last day my father came down with a very bad stomach bug, we were advised not to travel by the dr. we informed reception of this although they had told us that they were fullybooked however did manage to accommodate us. They were very helpful in taking us to the pharmacy for medication and asking us if we required anything else they also had housekeeping come and give us fresh bedding and towels. we had a fantastic time in Edinburgh which could have bern ruined if it was not for Lochend Apartments, Thankyou! from the Creef family.

This was our first ever online booking so we were very apprehensive and read through all the reviews and landed up with a mixed feeling about the place. But we were proved wrong the moment we stepped in. The place was neat and the staff friendly. The apartment was clean and spacious just as shown in the pictures. We had taken up a 2 bedroom apartment, it was a comfortable stay except for the mattress in the master bedroom which surely needs changing. The kitchen was clean, we were given the tea/ coffee/milk supplies for the first day, which was very helpful. The views from the living room are good. The little one had a good time looking outside the window every morning. The apartments are ideally located, you get to the bus stop right after you step out and can take number. 34 to reach the city centre in 10 minutes. The supermarkets are close by, also an Indian restaurant and a community park just opposite the apartment. We took our son to the park one morning and it was good fun. Overall it was a good experience and we would be happy to visit again in the future.

We arrived at the apartment on Monday afternoon, we were given our key and went straight up to the first floor. The housekeeping was just finishing in the room and we were then able to settle in. It was a 2 bed apartment with a twin and a king-size bed, beds were firm but comfortable and we all slept very well. It has a fully equipped kitchen and we were very happy that we could have a cup of tea straight away, there was even milk in the fridge. Good clear instructions were left for the cooker/washer/dryer in the kitchen and also for the t.v and free wifi. The apartments are on a main road so it is a little noisy with the traffic and as it was warm at night we had the windows open, but we soon got used to it. I found the dustpan had a crack in it so I could not sweep up properly, but spoke to reception as we went out for the day and there was a replacement in the apartment when we returned.
The bus stop to take you into Edinburgh is just down from the apartments and the bus service is excellent, just to note you have to have the correct fare for the journey as the drivers cannot give change, however the prices are cheap £1.50 for adult single and 70p for a child or if you are wanting to explore Edinburgh you can get a day ticket for £3.50 adult and £2.00 child and you can use any bus to go anywhere. We walked down to Duke St and had a meal in the Foot of the Walk which is a wetherspoons pub and on another evening we went to Bombay Spice which does not look very inviting from the outside, but the food was lovely and my chicken biryani was one of the best I have had. There is a Tesco also in Duke Street which has everything you need.
Do go up Calton hill in Edinburgh, you get wonderful views over the town, we also went on the Maid of Forth river trip to Incholme Island, and even though the day was wet it was a lovely day out.
I have noted from some of the other reviews that people have been a little concerned about the area, but I have to say that we had no concerns and on the Thursday there was a football match in the stadium which was just round the corner to the apartments and we did not hear any problems/fighting (I have heard more noise from our local stadium).
Very happy with our visit and will look forward to returning.
