The previous reviews on here made us feel we had hopefully found a gem and we were not disappointed. Lovely accommodation made perfect by Eve's thoughtfulness and all the extras she provided. We have stayed in many self catering holiday homes for a lot of years but Eve has really taken so much care with Lady Wynd and has thought of everything from cold remedies to sun tan protection to umbrella and rain capes (none needed) but the delicious eggs, home made jam biscuits etc were much appreciated. It ticked all the boxes for clean, comfortable, cozy and convenient too. Had a great week in Edinburgh and Lady Wynd and The Grassmarket area was perfect - Granny Green's Steps up to the castle were definitely a work out even for oldies! Fab food at Petit Paris and the Saturday market stalls well worth a visit. Thank you Eve for everything. We loved it - esp the jacuzzi bath! Xxx
I got the chance to stay here for 5 days over October.
From the outside the place is not much to look at, but on the inside the apartment is spacious well set up and the owner Eve makes sure you have everything you may need for your stay with essentials all included; eggs from Eve’s hens and jams she’s also made!.
The soda is comfy and pulls out to a comfy double. And the king size bed is also lovely and firm. The flat heats up nicely and retains heat for a long time which is great at night, especially in October as it can get quite cold.
The flat is situated close to Edinburgh’s old town, which is a nice small town with brilliant bars and shops, all unique, and also many restaurants to pick from.
The flat is slightly away from the business of the tortoise attractions of Edinburgh, which is great, and perfect just to get away from that, if either you’re new to Edinburgh for been here many times before, the flat is perfectly situated.
To wrap it up. Lovely flat, brilliant spot, everything you need in the flat is great.
Only thing I would say which may be a negative is the flat has a lot of ‘things’ a lot of chairs, a lot of pictures a lot of cushions, plants, ornaments, a lot of decoration, where personally I prefer things maybe abit more minimal?. However we are all different and have different styles of decor and if that is the owners style then each to their own!
Never the less, lovely place.
This flat was fantastic. Had everything you could wish for and more. Eve (the host) was amazing and kindly provided us with some provisions (including wine !) which was totally unexpected. The location was great (just by the castle) as it was within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to visit.
We had a lovely time in Edinburgh and will certainly remember this lovely flat for when we visit again.
Eve's place is in the heart of Old Town, Edinburgh. Very cozy with all the little extras you could want, including lovely handmade soaps. Off the street from Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle. Close to lots of restaurants and a 15 minute walk from transportation. Definitely recommend!
From its location in the heart of Old Town Grassmarkets to the divine homemade jam, Eve's apartment was everything other reviewers stated. Many of the sites we wanted to visit on our first trip to Edinburgh were within a 15 or 20 minute walk. (People should be advised that walking within the city centre involves steps, more steps and then still more steps!) Eve greeted us upon arrival and we were able to access the apartment before check-in. Which after the brutality that is Customs/Immigration at Heathrow was much needed. The apartment is on the first floor and requires a flight of stairs to access and there is no lift in the building. Visitors also need to be aware that they are staying in a popular area and that Saturday nights into Sunday mornings can be noisy fron midnight to 3 am. Keep the ear plugs from the plane or use those provided.
The apartment had everything we needed for our 8-day stay and we could have happily stayed in both Edinburgh and the apartment for a month. I so appreciated the house book that had instructions for how the various appliances worked. Often in the past I've needed to spend a fair bit of time figuring out how to turn on the television, wash/dry clothes or turn up the heat. Not here thankfully.
All in all a terrific apartment that will certainly be our first choice on our next visit to Edinburgh. And if Eve has left her delicious spicy apple and apricot jam, stop at J.M. Mellis cheesemonger on Victoria for a cheese scone. The jam on one those is culinary heaven.
