A very simple but clean hotel in a fairly central area (close to the Grassmarket). Staff at reception were lovely & helpful. It was a very warm couple of days but we could open the bedroom window and there was a small fan to move the air around which was great. There's a good shop round the corner but (be warned).. if you're looking at the front of the hotel, the street on your left leads close to the red light district! The street on the right leads to a sainsburys and the grassmarket (again to the right).. it's not a terrible location but non-locals wouldn't know this and may wander into the wrong bar! .. go to the grassmarket for pubs etc.. and then up the hill to the castle & royal mile.. or across the bridges or mound to Princes st..

We recently spent two nights at this Premier Inn location. It was great for walking in to the Old Town area of Edinburgh (Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, Grassmarket, Heriot School, Greyfriars Kirk), was affordably priced, and we were able to borrow the items we needed from the front desk (iron/ironing board; power strip - more on this last one below). We didn't opt for the restaurant's breakfast as there were many options within walking distance.

The bed was pretty firm, the pillows pretty thin. Re: the power strip - there was only one power outlet in the room available to use for recharging things like phones, tablets, etc. Not a big issue, and for the price, we would stay here again. We borrowed a power strip from the front desk and all was well.

Eat at The Hanging Bat! Great beer pub with good food about 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Room Tip: Traffic on Lauriston Street can be a bit noisy. Try a room farther back on Lauriston Street (the sma...

If you have stayed at any Premier Inn then all you need to know is that this is well located for the tourist areas of Grassmarket, Greyfriars, Victoria St and the Castle.
Also an easy walk to the shopping precinct at Princes/Rose Streets.

All the Premier Inns that we have used are modern, clean and comfortable. They are large and moderately anonymous, with no frill, but there is nothing wrong with that.
They all have some type of family restaurant attached, good solid food, not fine dining.

The only small issue that I have is that there is no fridge in the room. Sometimes it would be nice to keep some food cold, or chill a drink.

Our room was not ready when we tried to check in and we were made to wait, not good when travelling with a 4 year old. Rooms were very hot with no temperature control. Very noisy hotel, lots of street noise day and night, and noisy within the hotel as well. Complaint logged on website but have had no response even when chased. This hotel group does not provide good customer service.

Spotless clean rooms, crisp linen and unfortunately no room service. Centrally located, walking distance to all places in Edinburgh. Good breakfast spread. Efficient and helpful staff. Note that the windows to the outside do not open fully, deliberately restricted for safety. Great value for money.

Stayed here for one night as a family with a young baby. All of the staff were very friendly and obliging. We arrived before it was time to book in but our bags were locked away for us until our return later that afternoon. The same happened the following morning so we could spend all day in Edinburgh and returned later for our bags. A taxi back to the station was arranged by reception. The rooms were clean and quite large. Shower gel/hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities provided. We asked to be on the top floor in a quiet room because of the baby and this was arranged. There wasn't a cot in the room which had been requested but this was quickly resolved. We ate in the restaurant and the food was very well presented and delicious. Breakfast was excellent. No complaints. It is about 15 minutes walk for Princess Street but I wouldn't have liked to stay any closer to the centre as it would have been very noisy. Would definitely recommend and would return.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are quieter

Not sure I would return. While everyone was quite warm and friendly, the staffs' ability to give helpful suggestions was close to zero. We did a lot of self-discovery of the amazing city of Edinburgh.
