I picked this location because of it's proximity to the airport and availability. I was happy to find a room when I called the day before I needed it and the rep gave good driving directions. Upon arrival I found friendly people and self service check in which was very easy. Since it was late and we had an early flight in the morning we ate at the restaurant. The food and service were average as were the rooms. It was worth the price and the room was comfortable and clean.

Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable as we have come to expect from Premier Inn. The staff were exceptionally helpful and went out of their way to answer all of our questions. While I do not think the location was as convenient to downtown Edinburgh as others reported it is a quick train ride as reported. However be aware that the trains do not run on Sundays so if your trip requires a Sunday stay you will need to use the bus system or may need to hire a cab.

Restaurant attached is the Cuddie Brae. I have a mixed review of this restaurant as the food was excellent and we ate all breakfast, one lunch and one dinner there. However some of the staff were not only unfriendly but one elderly bartender was downright rude to me. The chef is obviously doing an excellent job and the wait staff were all good. I think this could be a hidden gem if they clean house and get rid of the grumpy staff.

Stayed at this Premier Inn on the outskirts of the city as it was convenient for leaving the car and sightseeing by public transport. Very friendly & efficient staff, comfortable and clean. Regular buses and trains from right accross the road. Nice pub attached serving breakfast and dinner.

We stayed two nights in this Premier Inn and I have to say staff were lovely and the room was comfortable although very noisy everytime a train went by and as we are a family of 4 we needed the window open so it didnt get stuffy. Even although we had booked for a family of 4 the room was only set up for 2, granted the receptionist sorted this out swiftly when we went out for dinner.
Breakfast on the first morning was a fiasco, everything seemed to run out, items were missed of the cooked breakfast, a warmed croissant was served rock hard and the waitresses were like headless chickens, thankfully breakfast on day 2 seemed better.
Our disappointment was that on arriving back to the hotel on our second night we went upstairs to a room that hadnt seen a housekeeper. Our bin was full, cups dirty, wet towels still in the bath and the room was not hoovered or the bathroom cleaned and when there are 2 adults, 1 teenager and a child in one small room it needs doing!

Room Tip: Ask for a front facing room so that you are not facing the railway line

My family and I stayed in two rooms at the Premier Inn in Newcraighall recently and we were very pleasantly surprised. Since we arrived in Edinburgh late, we decided not to stay downtown for the first night of our visit. The location in Newcraighall was relatively easy to find and was literally minutes from downtown Edinburgh.

We found the staff to be extremely helpful. The desk clerk even went to the trouble to find us a map of Edinburgh and gave us spot-on directions to a good parking garage in the city.

We were tired and didn't want to venture out to a restaurant, so we had dinner at the hotel. Our waitress was very nice and quite patient with all our questions. All four of us were pleased with our meal and with the service we received. Breakfast was a real treat with a well stocked continental buffet and a very tasty and generous made-to-order hot breakfast.

We were well pleased with our stay at this location. I heartily recommend it and can attest to the fact that it is just a short drive to the Royal Mile. One can save a good deal of money by choosing this hotel over one in downtown Edinburgh and still be quite close to the action.

The train station is two minutes from the hotel and there is a half hour service which runs into the the heart of the action (the city). the journey will take approx 10 minutes.
The staff are nice and the rooms are wonderful.
I recommend this hotel to everyone and will most likely be using it again very soon!!!!
Tip, dont pay for the premier breakfest, just pop in next door and get it cheaper!!
