What a great place to stay - Owner, Martin and his team (especially Michelle) were so helpful and warm. The breakfast was so tasty - such a great selection from cold items like pastries and yogurt plus a full cooked Scottish breakfast with options like haggis and vegetarian sausages.

In fact, during the rest of our trip to Paris and London - each place we stayed - my kids would say - this is good but not as good as Martin's breakfast ;)

Also one night we had dinner in at Garfield's - gourmet pizzas, pastas and a beautiful salad - they offer wine in beautiful fine glasses - a great option to have after a long day of walking!

We stayed two nights and plan to be back in the future!

I had stayed here 4 years ago during the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and was happy to return for the same occasion; but hadn't expected such a warm welcome - like an old friend! This is the perfect place to stay - comfortable, spotless rooms ; a haven of comfort, away from the bustle of the centre but with a bus stop round the corner which takes you to Princes St in 10-15 mins, and a wonderful view of the Edinburgh skyline. The breakfasts are excellent and the fact that you can now have an evening meal is a huge advantage after a tiring day. By the way, Martin's cheescake is to die for....!! I will definitely return next time I'm in Edinburgh. I can't speak too highly of it.

Have stayed at Garfield now many times, and each time it just gets better and better.

Clean rooms with pristine bed linen and plenty of large towels. Comfortable beds and plenty of coffee, tea, sugar and milk on the hospitality tray. Bathrooms are also spotless and functional.

Free onstreet parking just across the road.

The addition of pizza and salads served in the evening is a pleasant addition as many travellers after booking in don`t feel like going back out in search of food. All freshly cooked to order and salads made individually too.

The breakfast at Garfield is the best we have ever had anywhere in the UK.

Just wish we could visit more often.

Room Tip: Front rooms have a wonderful view of the city. Back rooms are quieter from traffic noise as Garfield is on a main road.

The owner Martin is very helpful, likes to know how your day was, gives you recommendations, and if anything ever goes wrong he will do everything in his power to fix it!
The value is very good. For all you get out of a stay it is superb! The rooms are very nice as well they are clean, has a tv, and is well equipped to occupy you if you ever need something to do.
Overall this is a very good place to stay!
