We took the bus from Old town to this beach about 30 minutes ride. We really enjoyed the fall weather walk along the promenade. Takes you back to a simpler time. Portobello is well worth the ride and time. Some good along the walk.

Great place and not commercialised. Just a couple of food places and pub but popular on a Sunday September day. Beautiful beach and lovely views.
Lovely clean beach with a safe traffic free promenade to walk or cycle along, swimming baths, fitness club, amusements, cafes, restaurants, bar and ice cream stalls and public toilets all on offer as you stroll along.
Hubby, myself and our dog had a wonderful time walking along the promenade, sun was shining, people in swimming, boats and plenty of friendly dogs, lots going on but everything flowed without a problem, Luna enjoyed running in the sand, the beach is one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen, the sand looked like it had been raked it was fab. Plenty of lovely places to eat or have a coffee. We will definitely be back. Loved it.
No matter what the weather is like there is always something to see when walking along the promenade. Today was the boat club out with several rowing boats.
A few places along the way to stop for coffee or a bite to eat. The amusement arcade if the weather is rainy.
A good beach for kids but spoilt by the number of dogs not on leads doing their business on the sands. Also used to be signs saying no cycling but now the cyclists come speeding along without due care for young children who could easily walk in front of them and get badly hurt.
Should have a designated cycle path.
A beautiful beach, clean, with Victorian decorations on the Promenade. Many small and cozy cafés. The day we were there was the annual Buskers Festival and the atmosphere was friendly, happy, lively
