This was my first visit here at weekend and what a great beach it is. Lovely and clean and miles of lovely sandy beach. Plenty of ice cream stalls, food shacks etc along the beach make for a very enjoyable day out. Will definately visit again when in the area.

What a lovely find! Scorching hot Easter weekend and we went to the beach while visiting Edinburgh. A wide, clean beach with loads of space for the kids to play and a pedestrian promenade to walk/skate/bike along safely. Nice little playpark with swings, monkey bars etc and a decent selection of cafes and ice cream. Lots of free parking nearby. Highly recommended on a sunny day.

Large wide flat footpath that is busy with walkers, dogs, scooters, bikes, runners and pushchairs so watch as you go.
There is free parking at either end of the promenade.
Public toilets available but not the best/cleanest.
You can get your usual seaside food here from ice cream, fish and chips to cullen skink and mussels at reasonable prices. There is a few bars/pubs, cafes/restaurants and food vans along the front - something for everyone.
In the summer it really comes alive with sports events on the beach and the 'beach busk'.

Don't expect sandy dunes for miles or private relaxing quiet spots - this is very much a city beach which is busy all year round whatever the weather! No picnic tables but plenty of benches along the path.
There is many better beaches in and around Edinburgh area but if you are in Portobello area its nice place for walk.

Brilliant beach. If you’re lucky you may even see some wildlife in the sea. This fellah was only a few yards out.

Lovely clean beach and promenade, we enjoy going for a walk along it.

Despite seeing many dog walkers both on the beach and the promenade, both were very clean. There are a few cafes/bars on the promenade too for you to stop for a refreshment if you want to!
