Large wide flat footpath that is busy with walkers, dogs, scooters, bikes, runners and pushchairs so watch as you go.
There is free parking at either end of the promenade.
Public toilets available but not the best/cleanest.
You can get your usual seaside food here from ice cream, fish and chips to cullen skink and mussels at reasonable prices. There is a few bars/pubs, cafes/restaurants and food vans along the front - something for everyone.
In the summer it really comes alive with sports events on the beach and the 'beach busk'.
Don't expect sandy dunes for miles or private relaxing quiet spots - this is very much a city beach which is busy all year round whatever the weather! No picnic tables but plenty of benches along the path.
There is many better beaches in and around Edinburgh area but if you are in Portobello area its nice place for walk.
