“Great time had by all !!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

Visited on the 17th November with my wife, daughter and 3 of her friends as a 14th birthday treat.

Right from the word go everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. All the kids were caught up in the whole thing and it gave them a good fright all the way through.

We were at the York Dungeons earlier this year and whilst it was good it is no where near as good as Edinburgh. York was more fun and a laugh but this one is definately has more of a scare factor.

All the actors put on a fine display and cannot be faulted for their enthusiasm and scaring abilities and the two rides were good as well.

All in all it was a great visit and was well worth what we payed for it. One tip is to make sure you book online and try to get in early as you can save a fortune on the pay at the door price.

Thanks for making a great birthday day out...........

“My 11th birthday party”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

Me and my friends visited the dungeons today for my 11th birthday party we were terrified before we even started and at end i started to feel ill i dont know what had happend to me. When we had came out and got a meal at the rockvile hotel portobello i started to feel much better. The boat ride was terryifying, pitch black with things brushing over our heads - the actors were amazing and we learned a lot about the history of Edinburgh. I don't know how we survived the tour but would definately recommend it to anyone thinking of going - not for the faint hearted though!

Hello and thanks for your review. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your birthday party at the Dungeon. Your kind comments about our actors will be shared with the performance team. It's great that you learned lots as we do work hard to make sure all our facts are as accurate as possible. As you point out, there are some scares along the way! However we do try to balance that out with plenty of laughs too.

Thanks again.

“Well executed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2012 via mobile

My boyfriend and I visited the dungeons on 16th of November after pre booking tickets online which were great value! We have never visited a dungeon so were unsure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised! The first room with the judge was fantastic, the actress was so convincing and the audience participation was funny. As the tour went on we found it more and more interesting, the stories of torture, the rides, the body snatchers.... We had a really great time. The Edinburgh dungeons should be commended on their acting and dedication to the experience. We would reccommend it to anyone, a fun filled hour which is reasonable prices and well worth the visit!

“Pass some time”

Went as a couple, would recommend more for families with young children. Bit cheesy, but funny in some areas. Relatively informative.

Hello and thanks for your review. We're glad to hear you found the tour to be funny and informative as we work hard to maintain accuracy in our stories. We generally don't recommend the Dungeon for very young children so would advise any readers to consider this before visiting! A good guideline age is around 8 and over however this is by no means a rule - it's entirely at parental/guardian discretion.

Many thanks.

“Brilliant day out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

I have just got back from my visit to Edinburgh and the Dungeons was the main reason for my wife and I visiting. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The tour itself was well thought out and very informative. There were approx 12 people in our group including 3 young children, I would say that although the tour was scary, it was not scary enough to take away the enjoyment for the younger members of the tour. The actors played their roles very well and I must admit I did jump a few times (even though im scared easily!) the reason I havent given it 5 Stars is that i thought it was going to be absolutley terrifying but it wasnt. It was pretty scary though !!! Book online through the Dungeons website to make great savings.

Hello and thanks for your review. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your tour and that the Dungeon was an important part of your visit to the city. It's great that you found our staff to be friendly and helpful and the tour to be informative; we do try to be as factually accurate as possible in our storytelling. As you point out, we do have to make the tour appropriate to a wide age range and we're glad to hear that while you weren't terrified, we did still manage to make you jump! We do offer an online best price guarantee so thank you for recommending that.

Many thanks again, and we do hope to welcome you back in the future.
