Description: A dream of flavour. Flavour that leaps out at you, gets you in a headlock & slaps your lycra-clad butt. Fresh, vibrant, fusion flavours like you get in california, new york, sydney & (gasp!) London.... After eating our way around all those places, we wanted to bring our little piece of the streetfood revolution to edinburgh. & So we did. BODEGA opened in august 2013 with a mini menu & a big plan: to bring tacos to town & change the way edinburghers felt about mexican. Our ethos was fresh, vibrant, innovative & exciting food. We hope we are delivering on that, because we sure keep getting excited about it.

I went here with a few friends recently and had an amazing night. This new addition to Leith Walk has a good vibe if you want to grab a bite with some friends before or after hitting the town. Allthough the menu is Mexican, do not expect your typical burrito as so many places have done already. Bodega offers a more creative spin in the taco; one that is delicious and makes you want more! Will be back!

As transplanted Texans living in Leith, we were thrilled to try this place out -- a taco joint in our very own backyard! -- and we weren't disappointed. While the portions were smaller and less spicy than we'd get back home, the food was fresh and lovely. I had pulled pork and chicken mole tacos and enjoyed them very much. Two or three would have been enough for me; my husband required four. Of particular delight was the Crocodile Pie, essentially like an avocado cheesecake, beautifully presented and quickly devoured. The service was very friendly. Our server even claimed to have met cigar-chomping Texas icon Kinky Friedman in Australia!

In short, we'll be back.

Probably will attract the trendy, cool, youngish/middle aged age groups, but we old stagers loved it too. This new restaurant on the Elm Row block is attracting lots of passing interest. The food was innovative and freshly prepared. Staff at front of house were charming and attentive, without being intrusive.

Having watched the former Frankfurter Eck being transformed over the last few weeks, we decided to pay Bodega a visit on their opening night. The menu is limited - just 3 starters and about 7 types of taco for the mains which come in pairs. But this meant we were able to try most of the tacos as well as samples some sides. The food comes out as it is ready so it is nice and fresh. And these were tasty tacos. Our favourites were the shrimp and he orange pop beef, but that does not mean the rest were not good. Far from it. The portions are a little small, so if you are hungry order 3 pairs of tacos rather than the 2 they suggest. Or get some rice to go with them. This is BYOB but we tried the Mexican fruit juices which were deliciously refreshing. With friendly service thrown in, this place promises to be another favourite of ours. We will definitely be back.
