First visit and not too impressed. Ambience was lacking and more fast food style than expected. Food appeared to be pre cooked and reheated and tasted as such. On the plus side it was not expensive. Quite a lot of kids too so was a bit of a crèche during my visit.

We visited Alla Romano as a family expecting for the kids to try a signature Tony Macaroni ice cream sundae as a treat after their lunch. Sorry no ice cream! Want ice in your drink - sorry no ice!

This concept reminded me of McDonalds. It's cheap and cheerful... Sliced pre made pizza and cakes (all on display like a canteen) and that's it. A big table in the centre which you have to share and high tables you need to perch on round the outside. Service is a bit chaotic which is difficult to understand given it's canteen type service and often empty. In it's defence tho it is cheap.

Would only recommend if you want to grab something fast and cheap otherwise there are loads if great Italian's in the area - try Nona's or Papilio both a short walk from here

A real shame as in this area one of the Macaroni Italian tapas concepts would go down a treat! Come on Tony switch your concept and you'll have a busy wee restuarant!

This is a quite unique eatery which my family likes very much.

It's a wee bit like school dinners. But good school dinners.

It's almost serf service in that you go up to the counter where bakers' metal tins are displayed full of differently topped pizza. The chef is always there to advise. Once you make your choice and order your drinks, the staff bring slices of the delicious pizza to your table. You pay at the time and its very reasonable.

Taken friends as well and they're always complimentary.

After going to Tony Macaroni's in Livingstone a few times I was so please to see they had opened one near my parents house.
Pizza Express was fully booked so I suggested to go to Tony Macaroni's. I was really looking forward to it.
We arrived to find a sign up on the door saying the toilets were out of order.
We went in as we had booked to find that there is a long table in the middle and you share the table with others. Around the sides of the room there was bar stool tables.
We were shown to our table. (The middle shared table) and told that the pizza's and puddings that were on display were what was on offer.

I was used to a large menu at the Livingstone one with Italian tapas.

This would be a great place for lunch with friends but not for a family meal.

Very disappointed!

I really like the concept of Tony Macaroni's. They have around 8 huge rectangular pizzas on display and you simply buy pizza by the slice. There are some standard pizzas (always a Margherita) and some daily specials, but always enough choice. You choose what you want from the counter and the chef snips a slice off (using what amounts to a pair of pizza scissors - ingenious!) before placing it in the oven. The idea is to try multiple different pizzas and eat according to your appetite. I've seen a number of people walk out once this has been explained to them, which is a shame as they are missing out on some really good pizza.
