Found this cafe on trip advisor. Had a great breakfast here. Very extensive menu. It's kid friendly too. Definitely recommend!

“Popped in from the Water of Leith Walkway”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

We found the Blue Bear by chance when doing a section of the Water of Leith Walkway one Sunday morning. The path emerges to cross the road nearby and we spotted a number of cafes, and went in this one at random. We were immediately made welcome, seated and handed the clip board menus. Just beat the rush as it filled up soon after we arrived.

Chose a bacon & cheese omelette, bacon & cheese croissant, and big pot of tea. This kept us going for the rest of the walk (down to Leith) and for the rest of the day including the 4 hour drive home! Lots of menu choice, lovely food, cheery and friendly staff. Well worth calling in and supporting this independent business. Highly recommended.

“Very Fine Cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

The staff are friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy chatting to customers. They are also fast and attentive.

The food consists of tradtional Scottish choices - such as a range of morning rolls - and more stylish dishes, with an emphasis on high quality, local ingredients. Much of it is delicious, but the kitchen can be a bit heavy handed with the cream and butter leading to some crazily rich food.

The atmosphere is energetic and lively. The music is interesting and varied, but upbeat techno can be a little much at 9am. The seating is uncomfortable after a while.

I would recommend this as one of the better cafes in the area, but it is also a little pricier than most others around about.

“Incomparable!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

The Blue Bear must be the new shining star of the Edinburgh breakfast scene. We moved to the area a few months ago and come here at least 3 times a week. If a place manages to make you feel like you're walking into your second home you know they're doing something right. Ben and Jemma managed to find the perfect balance between a cozy and relaxed atmosphere with great customer service and a very high standard of food and drink.
Having tried pretty much every item on the menu, may it be their outstanding breakfasts with the best hollandaise in town, one of their homemade cakes or any lunch option, we were never disappointed!!!
Well done, and many more years of success for you guys!!
