Great location, situated right near the train station and within spitting distance of the royal mile. Short walk to Grassmarket and Cowgate as well as Princes Mall and New Town. The staff we encountered were really helpful and friendly, particularly Tiina. Bar is open 24/7 so we were able to have a nice, comfortable night-cap late on our last night there. If you're one for amenities in your hotel room this might not be the best. As is the case in many old buildings there were only two plug sockets on the opposite side of the room to our bed. They were also halfway up the wall so to use the kettle we needed to shift some furniture around to balance it on whilst it was plugged in. We weren't that bothered as we didn't need to use them really but it's worth being aware of. Other than that the rest of the room was great and I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to explore Edinburgh from a comfortable, central location.
