Scotia Grand Residence - Quartermile Apartments
Ranked #23 of 218 Specialty Lodging in Edinburgh
Reviewed April 9, 2014

The location of the apartments near the Meadows make them ideal for a relaxed getaway to Edinburgh. The apartment is very modern, furnished to a high standard throughout. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the service very friendly. If you don't know your way around Edinburgh, the people there are always happy to help and make suggestions.

Room Tip: Choose the luxury rooms.

We stayed in a Deluxe 2 Bedroom apartment for a weekend with our kids ages 5 and 2.5. It was great. The apartment was spacious and spotless on our arrival. The location was great, walking distance to so many things. There was a Sainsbury's right by the building which was useful for picking up snacks and breakfast items. We found the management to be super helpful. They even helped to arrange an airport transfer for us, with car seats for the kids, which was terrific. We wouldn't hesistate to stay here again on future visits. Hopefully our next visit will be in warmer weather!

Quartermile Apartments are a great place to stay if you want to be near the centre of Edinburgh and want the freedom of serviced apartments. The Sainsbury's next door makes self catering easy and the Starbucks on the ground floor means you don't even have to make your own coffee in the morning!

Room Tip: I upgraded to a Delux Room overlooking MIddle Meadow Walk

Good facilities for self catering. There is a Sainsbury right next door. We also liked the Swedish café on the ground floor with an excellent range of bread. Lots of pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk.
One complaint about our apartment: there was no hand rail to assist stepping into the bath/shower which was quite high.
. The underground parking facilities are good. It cost £10 per day which is probably reasonable for the centre of Edinburgh. However, a car is not really necessary in Edinburgh as the main attractions are mostly with walking distance and the public transport system is good.
It was quite difficult to find the apartment by car because of ongoing building work and the one -way system. We spoke to a member of staff on the phone when we were nearby and she came to meet us and guided us in which we found very helpful.

Room Tip: Probably a good idea to pay a bit more for a view over the Meadows. We had an excellent view of the...

We appreciate your feedback and are looking to implement hand rails in the coming days. We agree that our location means your do not need a car to enjoy the city and weather dependant walking is a great alternative.

We hope to welcome you back.

Lovely flat and great location with a short walk to Royal Mile and city centre. Had everything you need for a break away and much better than a hotel. Was very difficult to find and had to call the office and they came to collect me. Our apartment looked out to the back of the building and looked directly into flats opposite so no privacy - had to lower the blinds which was a shame as you then blocked out the sun. Also noisy early in the morning with the delivery lorry to the local Sainsburys and also on a Tues when the bins get emptied.. Please note that booking online states that car park is £10/room per night - is it in fact £10/car per room per night which added to the cost.

Room Tip: Would request a room at the front of the building if possible.....

Hi,

Thanks for raising the point in relation to the parking. I'll have this checked and amended. Public parking is £16 if you leave the car static and unlimited if you plan to use the vehicle during your stay. Our £10 per pass means you can enter and exit as you wish and will make large savings against other options.

Sandro

Really nice staff, lovely flat and great location. Clean and well equipped! The only thing I could say that isn't perfect if you are a light sleeper is that in the flat there are constant weird ticking noises from the new building. But I'd stay there again!

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.

Can you get in touch with me direct so I can look into the ticking noise? I'm intrigued at what may have caused this as wish to resolve.
