I was a member at this gym for around 5 years and recently tried to cancel but was advised that to end my membership I needed to hand in written notice (seems ridiculous that in 2023 they only accept pen and paper to cancel). Despite this, I still handed in the written notice but was advised I would need to pay for another full month membership due to their 30 day cancellation terms.
I decided I was going to cancel my direct debit to avoid being charged for a gym I wasnt using and they have now passed the £36.00 debt onto a debt collectors (ARC UK?) and they have since added further admin fees on top of this. Seems overkill for one month payment and not the way to treat a long term member of the gym.
As for the facilities, the place is in desperate need of a refurb. The changing rooms also constantly smell, especially the shower area.

I had an array of issues at Queen Street in relation to my membership, all of which was ignored and stone walled. I eventually got to speak 'management' which was a guy called Alex who was extremely rude, wouldn't listen to a word I said about the mistake made by them and didn't take any responsibility. Eventually I was able to get help that confirmed I was correct and enough investigation didn't take place.
The gym is fine but small, the changing rooms aren't super clean but acceptable and a lot of staff seemed nice enough but just chaotic.

Pretty tired-venue. Nice and friendly staff and Gym ok but changing room very tired. I’m sure it’s very Clean I but just very out of date. Pool in the dungeon and the sauna should not be allowed to open for public use. Just needs a complete refurbishment.

The reason my rating is so high is because of the therapist I had for my treatment. His name was Gergo and he was really fantastic and very skilled. I was so delighted with the treatments and his professionalism that I’ll likely return.
As a “spa day” the Bannatyne health club itself isn’t that great and not really geared up to “spa day” vibes. the building is old and very run down (remind me of being at the local community pool or a high school). It needs sprucing up and it does dull down the vibe of a nice spa day. The spa place itself on -1 is nice and relaxing, small but does the job. The relaxation room was lovely and it was quiet so we had it to ourselves for about 45 mins after the treatment. I also was surprised to pay for the robe and towel (it’s probably written on the site when I booked the voucher and I missed it but feel like it’s an unnecessary charge that is becoming less and less popular across other places.
Overall I’d say it’s worth a visit if just one or two of you and looking for something local, not too expensive and grab a lunch somewhere in town afterwards.

Booked a spa day expecting a relaxing afternoon and had to leave after 50 minutes. Didn’t even make it to the treatment.
Avoid this place if you are expecting a nice spa day. Sure it’s fine if you just pop in for a treatment but not geared up for a spa day as you would expect.
Issues
- No nice meet and greet from the reception staff at the main entrance.
- Asked to pay for towel and robe, which is just ridiculous when booking a spa package.
- When eventually found the spa area reception, they seemed confused as to why we hadn’t been given bands for lockers and had round fobs.
- Changing room on completely different area to spa and had to be asked to be shown where to go. Usually when at a spa they show you around.
- Entire place was cold, not ideal when wandering round in gowns
- Only 3 beds in the relaxation room and was full, so unable to use it
- No cafe
- No nice areas to wait before treatments
- Entire place is very tired and bit grubby, not like the pictures.
Some of the above things would have been ok to get over, but combined with everything, just not up to a decent spa standard. Knew it wasn’t going to be a super posh spa, as you aren’t paying those prices, but it’s the little touches that make a spa day regardless of if the place is getting a bit past its best.
If you are a group above 1-2 people this isn’t the spa for you, there is no where nice to sit and relax between treatments. Just not very welcoming at all.
If you go expecting a leisure centre with a few treatment rooms then you won’t be disappointed but having compared to other Bannantynes this is no where near the same standard.
So glad to get out of there!!

We had a booking through a third party that we made for today, but the booking company made for 2022? I know, so did not show on bannatines system, we were frustrated as we could not have our treatments, however Alex the reception staff booked us in for swim jacuzzi steam room and a discount for someone else’s mistake which we were very happy with as it’s a short break in this city post covid and 50th birthday, so hats off to Alex and staff thank you…
