After a top to bottom driving tour of Scotland in May of 2015, my niece could not stop raving about the porridge at MacKenzie Guest House. We had comfortable beds in a quiet room, an amazing hot breakfast; fried tomatoes, bacon, sausage, eggs, toast and porridge, though a well stocked cold breakfast buffet; cereal, juice, bread, jams etc. was also available. I cannot speak highly enough of our very hospitable and informative hosts, Danny and Jasmine. My niece and I love to walk and walked to Edinburgh Castle a couple of times....it takes about 30 minutes at a good pace. But sightseeing and walking the 'Royal Mile' repeatedly takes a toll on ones feet and we soon opted for the bus, which was conveniently available at the end of the street. A Tesco, think English Walmart, is located close by for purchasing take home gifts of fudge and 'tablet'....you have to try this!!! Almost all my take home gifts came from Tesco. I am returning to Edinburgh next year with my family and hope that Jasmine and Danny have room for us!!
