“Honeymoon in the owners apartment”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I have 200 words to tell you just how amazing the Chester Residence was - trouble is 200 words cannot possibly sum it up. From the chauffeur service at the airport to the umbrella that greeted us as we stepped out of the car to the staff who although all appear young were some of the best customer service I have ever experienced (and I have travelled extensively). Nothing was too much trouble, the décor was luxurious and the first night we sat in our movie room and ordered in some Indian food. We did finally get out to see the city but looked forward to returning to out little piece of heaven and ridiculous huge bath with TV on the wall to have one of the most relaxed spoiled few days into our married lives. We will definitely return! Kerry and Paul Isom

Room Tip: we had the owners residence which had Armani encrusted walls, movie room and private courtyard - sup...

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment here for 2 nights with friends. We loved it. A little off the beaten path which was nice and a pleasant walk to everything we needed.-(George and Rose St) The walk to the Castle and the Royal Mile was about 20-30 minute walk. Apartment was fully equipped in the kitchen, both bedrooms were en-suites and there was another bathroom. Lovely modern living /dining area. The staff were wonderful and helpful when we had pizza delivered and needed transportation. There are DVD's to borrow, safety camera to see who is at the door, quiet, and a small outdoor patio. No air conditioning as standard in the area and they were having a heat wave but we were in a basement level apartment and it was comfortable with windows open for airflow. Highly recommend!

We booked this last minute largely on the strength of other reviews on trip adviser and got a bit of a bargain.....it was everything we hoped for. The Chester is a hybrid between a hotel and an apartment - it doesn't have a restaurant but it it does a have a lounge bar. Situated in beautiful Georgian terrace within walking distance of George Street, Princes Street and the Castle.

On arrival the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help - taking our luggage and parking our car for us.

Our apartment was stunning comprising a huge lounge with large windows on to Rothesay Place, a double bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and hall. The suite was beautifully furnished and decorated and was immaculately presented - a real credit to the house staff. Very contemporary but stylishly elegant - a perfect blend. We've stayed in some of the best Hotels in the world and this is easily on a par with them...and it's better than many suites we've stayed in in more expensive hotels.

We stayed in 9/3 above the main entrance and bar and it was lovely and quiet.

The apartment is really well appointed with large flat screen tv s, iPod docks, DVD, fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and cooker and even a nespresso machine which was refilled daily with a bottle of milk in the fridge.

It doesn't have a restaurant although they do provide continental breakfast room service if you want it.

There is a file in the room with restaurant recommendations - we tried several and all were great - Tiger Lillies in George Street and Kyloes below the castle.

I really can't fault any aspect of The Chester - great location, sumptuous accommodation and brilliant staff - would we go back ...? Absolutely!

Room Tip: You can't reserve a particular room......

We spent five days here shortly after our wedding. Wasn't intended to be our 'official' honeymoon but actually it was so fantastic and romantic, we did end up counting it as our honeymoon!

Straight after we booked we received excellent correspondence from the hotel staff - nice touch. Arrival and check in was perfect. The apartment was just lovely - as all the other reviews state. Decor, furnishings, facilities - all perfect. We had really high expectations of the place, and it met them.

Every single member of staff was friendly, helpful, and sincere. We booked restaurant reservations through the hotel, and at one place they arrived with champagne on the house, 'courtesy of The Chester Residence'. Lovely!

It's in a good location - easy walking distance to eateries, bars etc. We ended up getting taxis sometimes from certain locations, partly due to the fact that is was freezing and we didn't want to walk.

We booked the romance package which was quite pricey, but worth it I feel.

We will definitely be returning as soon as possible!

Loved our stay here! Four of us in a lovely, spacious apartment in the Chester St, extension with everything we needed for our one-night stay. Loved the room service breakfast, delivered exactly on-time by two waiters up three flights with no complaints! Pricey, but worth it!

Just looking through photos of our holiday last year (Scotland & Croatia) When we were lucky even to stay at the Chester Residence Mid July for 5 nights.

The rooms were huge, the staff were so helpful & friendly, location fantastic. We hope to visit again in the future again!! I believe we had rooms 9/2 & 9/3 in the main reception wing, with a bar & coffee or tea lounge in the main area to socialise with other guests & young Neil attending to our every need - our stay at Chester was smooth from start to finish, so glad we stayed for 5 nights as we didn't want to leave!

The breakfasts we arranged to get delivered to our rooms every morning were so delicious! The kitchens in the rooms were well equipped & included the very necessary coffee machine & pods. Bathrooms were beautiful & the apartments, were all furnished beautifully & kept so clean. We would highly recommend The Chester Residence to anyone staying in Edinburgh as it is such a lovely place to stay & such a stunning place to visit.

Wonderful retreat from home. Beautiful old refurbished apartments. Great welcoming kilted staff. Complementary pre dinner drinks in the bar. Resturant booked for us and transport arranged, nothing too much trouble. We walked into the centre of the city in 10 minutes.

Room Tip: All rooms cover the whole floor of the apartments. We did not experience any noise and it was a bank...
