Quiet, comfortable, good location, helpful staff. Perhaps a minor annoyance was the bed which was very creaky so I imagine people enjoyed knowing my every movement. The shower was fine in my view.

The best aspect of the hostel is that there is a good degree of freedom, I didn't feel like it was over-regulated like some other hostels can be. This made it feel like a home away from home :-)

Room Tip: The second building at number 4 Argyle place is quieter than the already quiet main building.

The hostel is located near the Meadows, wherefrom it takes about 15-20mins to walk into the center of the town. We payed 25 pounds per person per night and stayed in a double room. We were quite disappointed by the hostel: the shared bathroom was clean, however the shower didn't work properly, the room was run down (holes in the walls etc.): as we were on the top floor and the building was quite an old one, it was about 35 degrees hot in our room, and we couldn't do anything about it. The room was also next to a busy road, so we were woken up by 7 in the morning, because of the traffic (no mention of that in the website!) When we arrived, we were conducted into another house, which was far more run down and shabby than the one which was presented on the internet. For almost the same price, you would be able to get a very decent ensuite room in a cozy B&B. Not recommended.

Stayed here three nights whilst waiting to move into my flat, so wanted somewhere quiet on the weekend, and away from party-goers. Definitely a good place to stay if that's what you want too. The room was very clean, comfy and warm. However the showers are terrible, they want to save water but you have to run the shower for ages before you get any lukewarm water, which in chilly Edinburgh, is not the best... Also the staff seem to be running around like headless chickens, booking people in wrong rooms etc.

Stayed here for a few days before and after my trip with Haggis tours and although you can't fault that it's quiet , clean and has good kitchen and bathrooms I just fond it lacking something ! They have 2 houses and I was in the second house and just felt out of sight out of mind ! The main house seems very lively and good vibe , so that was my only gripe !!!!
It's not in the main part of city But really not too much of a walk and also the neighbourhood is very nice and quiet and has lots of shops , cafe and bar !
Good wi fi ,,,,, very handy .....

Room Tip: If taking a double ask for the rooms on first floor and towards the back of house ! Quiet towards th...

generally okay, rooms and bathrooms were clean enough however shabby decor and rude staff really let this place down. its seemed like my quires were a waste of their time which made us feel out of place and unwelcome.

this hostel is the place you want if your a traveler on a budget.
you get real city center location and total zen out bliss.

it made our stay in edinburgh pretty amazing. so here is the good stuff.

1 free everything
2 pretty good location close to shops and sights and still quiet enough
3 unreal views of scotland
4 friendliest place in scotland we stayed

and the not so good

1 reception is not open 24 hours but you can organise anything with reception but it would be nice to have it anyway without asking
2 some noisey guests (but this it not the hostels fault) but they need to deal with them.

Room Tip: they dont have fitness centre or swimming pool, but i didnt know how to not click them

The title is indeed true. It is a bit (just a lil bit) far from the city centre, but it is of walking distance. From the house, you may take around 10/15 mins to get to the High Street. You will have a great room here (with TV and a SAFE!) and the wifi connection is really good. Besides, you can cook your own meal and they have living room for you to relax (play guitars, chat, watch videos, read books). The bathroom is awesome. You have a bathtub and it functions as a jacuzzi as well. They also provide free storage if you are leaving later during the day and have to check out by 10.30am.

Room Tip: I stayed in the double room means that I have a queen sized bed and shared it with a friend. Very co...
