“Great Location with budget priced boutique feel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2011

Stayed with my friend for a girls weekend in Edinburgh. Paid £258 for two nights for 2 x queen sized beds. The bar and reception are really trendy and funky with pink fur high backed chairs.
Breakfast was ample with a magnificent view of the castle.
Beds were comfy (room 2059). Only quibble was the grout in the bathroom could have been doing with a major clean. A bit mouldy.
Make sure you ask for a room at the back of the hotel as I imagine the front can be quite noisy with the traffic outside. Also, higher up the floor would be better for that too. We were on the 2nd floor and you could hear the bottles being thrown out by the bar staff.

None the less, a great base for a fabby weekend!

Stayed here on Sunday 13th February 2011 in rm 712 and had a great time. The hotel was clean, stylish and welcoming. We didn't eat here but in the morning we spent an hour or so in the swimming pool, sauna and steam room......a lovely way to spend Valentines morning.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Edinburgh and next time I come here I will book into the Apex International.

My husband booked this for my 40th birthday and what a fabulous stay it was. We had a beautiful room with a lovely large balcony with the best view of Edinburgh castle.
The room was spacious and spotless, it was ready when we arrived before 11am with a speedy and friendly check in.
Really comfortable bed and excellent facilities. When we came back in the afternoon the staff had left complimentary bar drinks vouchers and a box of chocolates for my birthday (what a lovely touch!!) The breakfast was fabulous, a lovely table overlooking the castle with a choice of cold continental (try the delicious fresh orange juice ) to the tasty freshly cooked breakfast. We didn't have time to use the Leisure facilities but the pool looked nice and warm (we had a sneaky peek!!!) My mum is looking to visit at Easter and I will definately be booking here again. It was the best hotel we had stayed in for years and we are always picky in our choice of hotels.

I have never felt the need to write a review previously but I just felt I had to put out there how good this hotel was. When I and my wife arrived the staffs were quick and helpful checking us in and giving us some local information. We had a room on the 4th floor with what i can only describe as the best view in Edinburgh. When we stepped out on to the balcony the castle was right in front of us, we ordered drinks to the room and sat out on the balcony watching the world go by. i used the small gym, sauna and the pool was i think a stainless steel one, weird but great effect with the lighting. i used the free internet (always a bonus) to send out our view pictures to friends on facebook.

We booked a special deal through the apex website my wife had booked a friday night stay with 3 course dinner as a Christmas present. We had a lovely stay. Rooms have everything you could ask for. Staff were polite and helpful and the leisure centre with pool and sauna was excellent and luxurious. The car park is discounted to £8 for a 24 hour stay which meant that although we checked out at 11 am on the Saturday it left us free to wander around Edinburgh for the day. It really is a beautiful city and it makes you appreciate what you have on your doorstep when you view it through the eyes of a tourist. We had a wonderful stay and all for under £100. Book the special rate through the hotels own website the rate is available till end of March it is by far the cheapest way and you will not be disappointed.

My partner and I stayed at Apex International recently and had a lovely time.
Check in was friendly and welcoming and we were offered a free upgrade which was a real surprise. It was my partners birthday so it made it even more special. I mentioned this when we were checking in and couldnt believe when a birthday card arrived in the room later in the day with some complimentary drinks vouchers - now THATS service.
We used the pool and sauna which was lovely and not overly busy - the pool is made of metal and quite unusual but very relaxing.
Bedroom was beautiful, large and very clean. We had a balcony overlooking the buzz of the Grassmarket and a view of the castle to die for. The street below can get quite noisy in the early hours but we didnt find this a problem. The large flatscreen TV was great and there was also a DVD player.
We had breakfast in the Heights restaurant and WOW - again overlooking the castle. Breakfast was not your usual lukewarm buffet offering which was great and meant the food was served piping hot and the staff although very busy were always courteous and couldnt do enough for us. I think the managers name was Nadia (small lady) - she was brilliant. I think there is some refurbishment going on but we wernt disturbed atall.
It was pouring outside and we planned to wander round the city and being ill prepared didnt bring an umbrella. On mentioning this to one of the staff at reception briefly in passing they provided us with an umbrella and a map of local atractions - first class!
Didnt eat at the Hotel this time however the options in the bar and room service looked interesting (for our next stay).
We had a great stay and have already told our friends to stay at Apex international the next time they are in edinburgh we certainly will. Thank you APEX.

i stayed at the apex international and was impressed by the size of the rooms, walk in shower and the most beautiful view from my room overlooking edinburgh castle.

the staff were warm and friendly even at 2am when i had lost my key !!

i would recommend this to both business and leisure as a truly fabulous hotel close to the centre with only a short walk away, i will most definately stay again
