“Absolute Perfection”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

I was extremely fortunate to stay at Number 29 for four nights. The house has been beautifully renovated, and is both inviting and relaxing. Although only a short distance from Princes Street, the house is located in a quiet neighbourhood with cute shops and good restaurants close by.

I stayed in room 3 (on the third floor) and room 1 (on the first floor). Both bedrooms have incredibly comfortable beds and bed linens, with bathrooms that wouldn't be out of place in the top design magazines. Room 1 is exquisite with a sitting room (complete with sofa, chaise and large glass-topped desk) and a marvellous view of the cathedral across the street; in contrast, room 3 is quite cozy with an extremely comfortable reading chair and a view of Edinburgh Castle in the distance. The breakfasts were delicious - organic fruit trays, stewed fruit, homemade muesli and granola, and porridge and - if you had room - a hot cooked breakfast.

To top it off, Corinne and Simon are the perfect hosts. But for them, I wouldn't have set out exploring sights and shops off the beaten path and so got to see a side of Edinburgh that many tourists rarely see. I look forward to returning to Edinburgh - and to staying again with Corinne and Simon.

We just stayed one night but we had such a wonderful time. It was a horrible wet night and the owners had tea and biscuits waiting and had made sure our room was warm and cosy so we could dry off when we arrived. We had a lovely welcome, a hot bath a cosy bed and an absolutely outstanding breakfast. I can't praise them enough.

I could not believe how wonderful this b&b was! Corinne and Simon were the perfect hosts. We stayed in room 1, which was absolutely amazing. I loved lounging on the sofa in the sitting room and gazing at the cathedral across the street. Every detail of the decor is perfect- so serene and relaxing. Breakfast was wonderful. Easy to walk to the castle and busier areas, but in a quiet area so sleeping was easy. Beautiful architectural details. I could go on and on... I would go back here in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Number 1 if you can get it- it has a large bedroom, sitting room, big bathroom with shower, and a so...

This is the first bed and breakfast I've stayed at where literally everything could be described as "Perfect"...Our room was large and beautifully decorated...Pristinely clean...Every need thought of...Beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options and consideration put into each item. The town center, great food and pub options all within convenient walking distance. The owners were so helpful in making suggestions for sights and refreshment. I wish we could have stayed longer! Simon and Corinne were the best hosts imaginable!

Room Tip: Any room would be a good room here, so much consideration is put into every detail...Our room was on...

We have stayed in about a zillion B&B's on our travels and this place is perhaps the very best ever! Great location - we walked everywhere, or they'll call you a cab if you want to ride - and our room was the most extravagent & beautiful space. The fabulous Corinne & Simon have competely renovated this gorgeous Georgian house and our room was the entire 1st floor. It's a huge bedroom with a fantastically comfortable king sized bed, a new and beautfully designed bath, and then a whole other room which was the drawing room of the house in the day. Gigantic windows overlooking St. Katherine's Cathedral and you could have a cocktail party for 30 people in there easily! Every detail is perfect. I know I'm gushing, but it is deserved. Breakfast is delicious. Corinne gets everything locally at the farmers market and there was greek yogurt and homemade muesli, fresh fruit, the best toast I've ever had (she gets the bread from a baker nearby) and then fixes you eggs and whatever meaty thing you want. We met other really interesting people staying in the other rooms and everyone is in such a good mood because they create just a warm relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There is no way there's a better place to stay than Number 29!

Room Tip: Go for Room 1. It's the entire first floor and pure luxury. King bed.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights on our first trip to the UK! Number 29 was our favorite B&B during our trip. Corrine is so warm and VERY friendly and Number 29 is beautiful and immaculate! There are great views out of every one of the big windows-room 3 had a view of the castle and while eating breakfast you looked out at St. Mary's cathedral. Corrine made reservations at a great little bistro for Tom's birthday and she was always available to answer questions! Plan your stay here while in Edinburgh-it, too, will be your favorite!

We stayed at Number 29 in February this year. It was just the most perfect experience. We stayed in room 2 which was beautifully decorated and very very comfortable. The location of the B&B is perfect and easy to walk into town. Corinne gave us some directions for a lovely walk around the castle in the evening. Their hosting style is very friendly and we felt at home immediately.

The breakfast was excellent quality and so much choice. It set us up for the day.

We were so well looked after and it made my first trip to Edinburgh truly memorable. I cannot say enough good things about this place and really hope to be back sooner rather than later!
