I visit this place quite often with my missus and our daughter and food is always excellent. Pizzas are probably closest to those we ate in Italy that I've ever had around Edinburgh and well priced. There are some books for kids available and the place itself is a bit chaotic in a very positive way.

I don't really get why people complain about unfriendly owner. Perhaps he's just tired of listening to guests' boring life stories and couldn't care less about your granny's colonoscopy. If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine without meaningless chit-chat - look no further.

Very good cooking indeed. Squid soup followed by Lobster ravioli. Fresh, honest, accurate cooking with relaxed friendly service. I will return.

In terms of quality of food, this is probably towards the better end of Italian restaurants in Edinburgh. The ingredients are average quality (which must be a plus point as other Italian places, except perhaps Missoni, use bog standard ingredients). The pizza is probably about as good as you can get out of an electric oven, though you can taste it's not log fired.
Menu: the chef seems to have compromised somewhat with local tastes, so it's not authentically Italian. Nobody in Italy would load garlic onto a pizza and there is a highly bizarre dish (bizarre at least for Italian cuisine) of meatballs, spaghetti and focaccia all on the same plate...
Coffee was good, something of a rarity in Edinburgh.
Prices are cheap for a restaurant, but a bit expensive for what is essentially a souped-up sandwich bar.
All of this however is made irrelevant by the owner's attitude, who seems to be in a permanent grump, never smiling, and looking more like he's doing compulsory community community service rather than running a business. Asking diners to change table so he can squeeze more diners into the tiny eating area. All of this means you're not eating in a nice atmosphere, which is fundamental for any restaurant, before even good food. If I know the owner was taking a day off, I might try going back, otherwise I'm afraid not.

Found what has to be the best Italian restaurant in Edinburgh last night, hidden away in Marchmont. Great food - multi-layers of flavour and texture - a foodies paradise.

Bruno, the chef and owner makes all the other Italian restaurants seem like mainstream, mass produced food. If you want Italian food with flavour and an explosion of delight and you bite then go here.

Quite simply.... WOW, just WOW!! By far the best Italian food I've eaten out around Edinburgh in four and a half years.
