“A totally satisfactory experience!”

Provided you do not need car parking facilities, this is an excellent reasonably priced hotel. Some buses stop outside the door, though the airport bus, and nearest tram [opening in May] are a five minute walk - alight in Shandwick Place. Its easy to miss the front door, sandwiched between two shops, so be careful not to walk straight past! Location is great for Edinburgh attractions, the view from restaurant and many rooms is stunning. Our room at the back - maybe we were lucky to be at the end of a corridor - was the quietest we have ever experienced in a city hotel. Spacious, clean, comfortable. Half an hour free wifi per day if required. Maybe another drawer or two would be welcome, and space to hang a full length evening dress might be appreciated by the ladies, but these are minor quibbles. The breakfast [pay extra] was very good, the staff especially friendly and helpful. The evening restaurant menu will not attract gourmet customers, but gives a good range of meal types, well cooked and sensibly priced, and can be recommended if you don't want to 'hit the town' on an evening.

Room Tip: Front rooms for stunning views but may get some traffic noise - [but the double glazing is good.] Ro...

Stayed here with 9 other friends for a girly birthday weekend. The location of this hotel is great, right in the middle of everything. The rooms were spotless and very spacious, loved the security of having to use your room key card to access the lifts to rooms. The staff were so friendly (especially John) nothing was too much trouble. The buffet breakfast was delicious worth every penny. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Great friendly hotel. Staff really took an interest in why we were visiting and offered advice on where to go with our child. The hotel was also clean, safe and centrally located with excellent transport links.

Clean rooms, decent size, but could have been a bit bigger. Location was outstanding, a short distance away to attractions and shops, and regular buses to the Zoo. The breakfast was brilliant, and it was very quiet during the night, and the view of the castle was lovely. Would return.

However, I would like the choice of the Thyme restaurant to be a bit better, especially for vegetarians.

Room Tip: Ask for a castle view.

Just spent 4 nights here. Location is perfect for walking the old town and is in the middle of many shops and restaurants.
From Edinburgh Airport, take the Airlink bus (N22 at night or the 100 all other times) for £7/adult, £3.50/child. Use the kiosk or purchase from the info desk inside the gift shop. Bus picks up out front at the 21 bus stop. Construction out front may change the bus stop. Get off at the West End stop (the one after Haymarket), about 20 minutes. From the sidewalk follow the tram tracks on to Princes street. 3-5 minute walk with small children. Small entrance door clearly marked next to a Starbucks.
Breakfast was worth the price, I ust under .£18 for 2 adults and kids eat free. Served until 1030 on weekdays and 1100 on weekends. Scrambled and sunny side up eggs, ham, hashbrowns, breads coffee machine, ceral, etc. Lots of other shops offering breakfast on Rose, Geroge and Fredrick Street for similar prices.
Mcdonalds and Tesco within a block for quick eats and snacks. Primark and a pharmacy on Princes St in case you forgot items at home.
Waverely station a 20 minute walk as well as the Entrance to Edinburgh Castle.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the castle.
