The Travel Lodge Hotel was a 5 minute walk from the main train station and located a few streets behind Princes Street. There was no breakfast included so we ate at a lovely little cafe just round the corner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Check in is normally 3pm and check out at 12pm. We were given a key card which you used to get through the main door leading to the lifts and corridors to the rooms for security which was a great idea. The room was very clean and had a king sized bed, TV on the wall, tea and coffee making facilities. There was no hairdryer but you could ask for one at reception. The bathroom had a shower but no bath and the water pressure wasn't too good. The room was very airy and light. There was no wardrobe with doors for the clothes just a bar with coat hangers with a shelf above. The hotel is in a great location and within a good walking distance of the Royal Mile for the Castle. Wear comfortable shoes as its uphill. Mary Kings Close is also worth a visit while you are there!

£46 for a family room in central Edinburgh in high season was good value.Room was quite spacious, clean, and quiet for a Friday night. About 20 minute walk from Waverly station so central enough and only five minute walk from Weatherspoons for a cheap breakfast. Bed was big and comfortable. Vending machine in lobby for a chocolate bar, crisps or a drink

I stayed at this hotel in October last year, and left a review soon after, but all the old reviews seem to have disappeared now! So here's another one.

The location of this hotel is excellent. It is a short walk to the very centre, and my room overlooked an attractive park. There are plenty of restaurants nearby.

The room was very spacious, with a high ceiling. I was clean, and minimally furnished, like other Travelodge rooms. Although the road outside could get a little noisy with traffic, there were two sets of windows which completely kept out any noise.

Although I didn't pay for this room, I think the cost was about £35, which I think is good value for the location.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a family room, 2 adults and 1 child. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfy and the tv was an added bonus. The staff were friendly and efficient. We were able to borrow an iron and ironing board for no extra cost. This hotel is in an ideal location, 5 minutes walk from everything. 10 minute walk from train station. Shops, bars and restaurants around the corner. We recommend La Lanterna, a little Italian restaurant around the corner, great food at good prices! However, hotel was not so close to everything that you could hear people partying into the small hours which was good. Will definitely stay again next time we go to Edinburgh!

Room Tip: If you are a family with young children, ask for a quieter room on the top floor if possible.

We only stayed here for one night but I would most definitely stay again if I were to return to Edinburgh. We paid for early check in which was noon however were able to get into our room even before that as we arrived early. The room was big for a double and very quiet. One little complaint was that mobile phone signal was quite bad due to the room being in the basement however this wasn't much of an issue.

The location is excellent considering the price, only a few minutes walk away from Princes St and about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from Waverly Station.

Room Tip: Rooms in the basement did not have good phone reception however I can't comment on rooms in the upper floors.
