I stayed here for a week while on business... It's a nice enough hotel - the rooms are nice and the staff are friendly and helpful.
I did find it slightly odd that I couldn't book a table at the restaurant while it was half empty - I didn't mind as I just went to the bar and had a drink. But when the time came you were squeezed in with the rest of the diners, and the other end of the room was empty. However, the service was excellent and the food was good, but some nights I would have liked a bigger portion. Thankfully some of the desserts are huge so that made up for it well enough!
£3 gets you a return ticket from the train station opposite to the City. Really handy if you like to stay at a quiet location away from the hubbub of town. You don't hear the trains going past at all. Well - I didn't anyway...
All in all a decent hotel and I would recommend it to friends and colleagues.
