“Still haven't sorted the Wi-Fi”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012

I stay here regularly, and despite them charging you £3 for 24 hours wi-fi, you gamble that the signal works. Sometimes it's ok, but mostly it's rubbish. Last night it didn't work and I had to go into the Costa Coffee unit to get a signal. As it closes at 7pm, I was left without wi-fi for the rest of the night.
I booked the restaurant at 7-30pm, and it was busy, to the extent that the staff were overwhelmed and couldn't cope. I waited over ten minutes for someone to ask if I was ready to order, and whe no-one bothered, I left and drove to a take-away a couple of miles away.
The room was typical Premier Inn - if they want to attract people, try offering Sky Sports and selling (or complimentary) newspapers . I don't know about budget prices, my room cost £92.

The staff was wonderful and helpful. The proximity to the train station was perfect. Frequent trains made getting into and out of Edinburgh simple and easy. The £2.90 return service to/from Edinburgh (Waverley) off peak was convenient. With an off-peak ticket you have to travel after 09:15 in the morning and cannot travel between 16:42 and 18:20 in or out of the Edinburgh. This was only a minor impact, as I would have probably been out earlier in the morning. Evening was no problem as we were eating downtown before heading out to sleep.

The hotel was spotless (as it was approximately 6 months old). The family room was a bargain at £39, but we didn't get that rate every night. We paid between £39 and £80 for the nights that we stayed.

I appreciate the fact that the family room had a Queen sized bed and a extra long twin.

Pro:
* Proximity to the train station (couldn't be closer)
* Nicely stocked Kettle (including artificial sweeteners - sometimes hard to find in the UK).
* Sparkling clean (because it is so new)
* Very quiet (no hotel noise, no street noise, no train noise)
* Excellent 3G coverage on O2/giffgaff

Con:
* £3 per person (off peak) train ride into/out of Edinburgh. Could see the lack of a downtown hotel being an issue on cold/rainy days.
* Limited wifi (30 minutes free per day) £3 for 24 hours
* Beds were hard
* lack of storage space in the room
* lack of anyplace other than the floor for your bags

We stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting a relative on this side of Edinburgh. Once again the staff were excellent and nothing was to much trouble. Room was immaculate as was the service provided throughout our stay. Both the quality and quantity of the meals provided were excellent. Did not hear another soul all night and had a wonderful, restful sleep.

This was are second visit to this hotel, we are a family of four including two boys Callum aged 11 and Liam aged 7. We also returned this time with my parents. Our first visit to this hotel was April 2011 which was such a wonderful visit that we couldn't wait to return. We were very well looked after from the moment we arrived. This is a relatively new hotel with clean spacious rooms all sound proof which is good news when you have two noisy little boys with you. On the ground floor there is a Costa coffee shop, a very good bar area and restaurant. It is advisable to book if you wish to eat in the restaurant as it can get booked up quickly. Across the road there is the train station which will take you into Edinburgh. It is two stops into the city centre where there is lots to see including the castle, shops, bars, restaurants and theatres to mention a few. If you fancy going a bit further afield then while staying in this hotel which is right on the motorway network and not far from the airport we went to Balloch, Loch Lomond (Luss), The Trossachs, St Andrews which has a beautiful beach. If you would like to visit places slightly closer to Edinburgh Portabello Beach, Leith where the Royal Yacht Britannia is docked. Leith has a wonderful shopping area and there are also bars and restaurants to eat and drink. Getting back to the hotel after a long day sight seeing the staff were wonderful with our boys providing lots of pictures to colour and taking the time to ask us how our stay was going and recommending places to go and see. We would like to give a special thank you to Angel who looked after us at breakfast - nothing was too much trouble for him, a very pleasant kind man. We would also like to thank Debbie, Liam, Jordan, and Stephen who looked after us both at breakfast and in the evening if we ate in the restaurant or had drinks in the bar.
We would recommend this hotel as it is in a very good location whether it be for a business trip, family holiday or any other occasion. On leaving this hotel and driving out of the car park both children asked when can we return I think this is the sign of a good hotel if you cannot wait to return when you havn,t even left the car park. Many thanks to all the staff.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights to visit relations. Staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. In the dark and rain it was a little difficult to find as we came off the city bypass at the wrong roundabout - make sure you come off at the GOGAR roundabout and head for South Gyle and Park rail-station. The bed was too hard for my wife, who has arthritis, but staff brought an extra duvet for her to sleep on, which helped. Breakfast was plentiful and with enough variety to meet all our preferences. The adjacent rail station gives frequent access to central Edinburgh and the tram-line will improve this further (but the saga of the trams in Edinburgh means that this will not be for some time). Across the footbridge over the railway is a shopping centre with a large supermarket for newspapers etc. Like other Premier Inns, the accommodation is basic but well designed to provide (almost) all main needs for a comfortable no-frills stay.

We stayed for 3 nights over a very cold weekend in October. Location of the hotel was brilliant, a few steps to the train station and only 2 stops and £2.90 return to Edinburgh (Waverley). The hotel is very clean and the rooms, well appointed. We were not disturbed by other guests or any noise from trains despite being in a room opposite the station. Breakfast was the usual premier inn fare, plenty to eat but average food only. Reception staff were very helpful, baggage storage available after checkout which was great as we were not flying home until the evening. Would definately recommend this hotel when looking for a hotel near Edinburgh City Centre, just on the outskirts and away from the hussle and bustle.

Be aware that trains every ten minutes monday-saturday but hourly on a sunday.
