The apartment is in a very good location and it had everything that we needed for our stay. Highly recommended!
We have recently stayed at Browns Close and the apartment is super clean and has everything that you may need for a comfortable stay away from home. It is very central to everywhere. We particularly liked the New Town for bars and restaurants. You can get pretty much anything there. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to be central, this is as long as you don't mind a bit of walking uphill.
Browns Close is a roomy apartment toward the bottom of the royal mile, which means you are usually walking up the hill to attractions and at the end of the day you get to walk downhill coming home. The 35 bus stops just outside the apartment and the train station is only a 5 minute walk. The apartment has everything you may need to cook and we were thankful to be able do a load of laundry (wash & dry!). The kitchen and bath are modern and the entire apartment is very clean. Old Town is great and go to New Town and Leith by the waterfront if you have the time. Many pubs and restaurants are within walking distance. We were pleased at how quiet the apartment is despite being above a pub. David B. is very responsive to any questions and requests. A great host! Would definitely stay here again.
This flat is amazing. My daughter is studying at the Univ. of Edinburgh and we went for a 10 day visit. We absolutely loved staying at Brown's Close. The location was perfect, right on the Royal Mile close to Holyrood Palace. It is a great base location, close to the University and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, etc. Loved the pizza at Kilderkin pub around the corner! We felt quite safe. The amenities were great- washer/dryer, dishwasher- anything that one might need was there. The bed (and pull out couch) were very comfortable. It was quiet at night.
I can't say enough good things about the owners- David and Margaret are fabulous hosts- very helpful, responsive and had answers to all of our questions. We were delayed a day due to weather and it was easy to get a hold of them and make arrangements for them to meet with my daughter.
I highly, highly recommend this flat!
Brilliant location - so easy to get around and so many shops, restaurants and bars nearby.
Very well kitted out with everything you may need in the kitchen.
Bed is very comfy and very quiet in the evening even though it's very central.
Great apartment for a city trip!
The apartment was awesome, perfect to stay with family and very very comfortable.
If you go to Edinburgh make sure to stay here you won't regret it.
We spent 4 days at Browns Close and what a fabulous time we had, I highly recommend this place.
The owner David met us at the flat, he is very friendly and gave us excellent directions on near-by amenities and places to go.
The apartment itself is lovely and clean, it has a cosy lounge with a balcony from which you can see the new Parliament building.
There is a well-equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need, and a bright bathroom with electric shower.
The bedroom has an extremely comfortable large double bed, plus there’s a spacious comfy sofa bed in the lounge.
As always when I travel, I find it’s the little touches that make a place special and at Browns Close they have thought of everything.
We each had a set of fluffy white towels and facecloths for the bathroom, plenty of double-ply loo roll (I hate it when places skimp on toilet paper), a brand new shower gel plus individually wrapped Lux soap.
The kitchen had tea towels, dishcloths, washing up liquid etc , but in addition there were basic spices (salt/pepper) tea, coffee, sugar and also a breakfast/snack tray with cereals, hot chocolate, and shortcake biscuits. David had even put a pint of milk in the fridge for us. There’s loads of space and hangers in the bedroom cupboards, a box of tissues on the dressing table and a hair dryer. This kind of attention to detail really means a lot and makes it so easy for visitors to settle in.
Browns Close is in a really great location, after a long morning walk up the crags don’t miss full breakfast at Clarinda's Tea Room, or if you’re too late get yourself a pulled pork roll at Oinks across the road – actually it’s just as well we only had 4 days, any longer and I’d never fit into my clothes.
