Went with my fiancé for a spot of lunch with a Groupon we had. Two courses of the most delightful food. I don't usually have the time to do reviews but felt this place deserved one. We were waited on with good service by waitresses who were attentive but not annoying (I cannot stand when they are at your table every two minutes!). I had the haggis, neeps and tatties which was divine and the best haggis dish I've had in a long time. My fiancé had the macaroni and cheese which I am sad to say, excelled mine and he usually proclaims mine mouth watering. To conclude we had a chocolate fondant and apple crumble. Both seemed to have been homemade and were so tasty that we over indulged. They were appreciative of the fact that we needed more time between our courses and we were allowed to just relax. Well worth a visit if you're in the mood for something tasty and a nice setting.

We have been here twice now, both times using the two courses for two people Groupon. Service has been excellent, friendly and attentive staff who were always smiling. The food was brought out in a good timeframe. It was well presented and tasty! We had the mussels in a tomato base and their haggis scotch egg (delicious) followed by the steak frites and chicken burger. The chicken was a good sized breast and grilled nicely. I ordered the steak medium rare and this is how it was cooked, juicy and flavoursome. Would definitely go back.

chose to go for sunday lunch - big mistake - had to ask to place order as think they had forgotten to return, the 'yorkies' were flat, hard & overcooked - looked as if made with wrong flour; roast potatoes looked deep fried, meat was ok, carrots lovely, but brocoli was raw. when drew this to staff attention no real attempt made to rectify- they later brought a small bowl with some cooked in, but by then i had finished eating & did not want it - good job i had starter (although fishcakes were again slightly overcooked) else i would have left hungry. no offer of reduction/ free drink etc that would normally expect in that situation - we will definately not return

Our family ate at The Melville Bar on 28 October having booked through a "Groupon" voucher deal. The place was clean and had obviously been re-furbished quite recently. The deal was for two courses and the menu gave many tempting options. All the food that we were served was first class and everyone enjoyed their meal (starter & main). It was a great night and our waiter (Ewan) was very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely recommend and return (the pre theatre menu at £9.95 for 2 courses (limited) also sounds like good value).
